mike doesn't know that will is gay, so he can't know that will has romantic feelings (that he never acts on) for him.

therefore, a hug with will should be the same as a hug with lucas or dustin.

she claims nagini was the snake harry freed in the beginning of sorcerers/philosophers stone, but nagini is a maledictus and took the form of some sort of viper. the snake was a brazilian boa constrictor.

terry boot was a slytherin in the books, or at least he was in the first one (currently rereading the sorting scene for reference), but in the games he’s a ravenclaw.

she designs character arcs with little thought of the world building attributes she created and the magnitude and effect of things on people. (the wandlore for each element of a wizard or witch’s wand is supposed to fit the person it belongs to, the whole mental trauma of bullying, the way family dynamics work, etc.)

also all authors, i know we pick our favorite words to use and go and delete half of the instances they’re used because we’re scared of overusing them.

this woman had NO shame repeating words to a ridiculous extent.

“he/she beamed” AT LEAST TWICE A FUCKING PAGE.

like picture the new word you found. you feel like you’re overusing it, but decide to wait til later to edit it all out.

picture how many times you feel like that word has been used (we always feel like it’s more than it is) before you edit and times that by 3.

that’s how many of hers MADE THE FINAL DRAFT.

she’s got good worldbuilding, she just needed to stick with it and keep track of details.

A Christmas Carol never even says that Scrooge gives up anything at all, or even somehow stops being super-rich.  He just stops being a dick about it and starts using his wealth to help people.  Scrooge isn’t even written as an indictment of rich people, since plenty others appear in the story and are presented as perfectly nice people.  Scrooge is a miser.  He doesn’t even use his money to help himself, which is called out as the reason he dies within the year.  Learning to care for himself is just as much part of the Ghosts’ lessons as learning to care for other people.

If “he is [my best friend], but so are you. And so is Will,” then why “it was the best thing I’ve ever done”? Why Will only? Why not best friend Lucas and Dustin?

Because Will isn't just a best friend. What Mike and Will have is understanding. They didn't say it because they didn't have to. Mike's bond with Will is something unique.

Also, I'd wager that initiating conversation with Will was scarier. I'd bet Lucas and Will spearheaded meeting Dustin, and if Lucas is next door then they likely met through parents or in a less deliberate way.

Mike did something that created what he shares with Will.
