Happy 40th birthday, JAWS! Thought of using the original poster, but when I saw this Kyle Brown japanese-style artwork, I knew I had to use it. Love the Megaladon-sized eponymous character ripping through the North Atlantic currents; and, of course, the Orca, my favorite boat ever (and they did not need a bigger boat, the Orca and her crew of three did the job just fine, thanks). Not long after June 20, 1975, my mom took her 8-year-old son to see this film at the Liberty Theater in Walla Walla, WA. After the film, not only could he not swim in the public pool anymore—and forget lakes, ponds, and rivers—but he also wanted to make his own movies and write his own tales. JAWS was the first soundtrack I owned and the first paperback book I also owned (though the film is far superior to Benchley’s book). A film that has inspired many wonderful filmmakers and writers I know and/or admire.
