First of the year! by William Culp Via Flickr: Male Ruby-throated Hummingbird. It may be a transient but at least they are coming back to my backyard. I had the feeder out for two weeks because of reports of them in surrounding areas. This is shot from my deck and the green background is the grass. What joy they bring!
A taste of what's to come! by William Culp Via Flickr: A female Ruby-throated Hummingbird getting a little taste of a Mexican Sage that's not in bloom. It's a late blooming plant and the last one to bloom. The plant is now in bloom, but my Hummers have moved on sadly. Hopefully I will get the transients and they will get to use it. My backyard.
I hate bees! by William Culp Via Flickr: Male Ruby-throated Hummingbird keeping it's distance from the honey bee. They are afraid of them because the bee can kill the hummingbird. Bill's Backyard Bird Blind.
A little wet! by William Culp Via Flickr: Female Ruby-throated Hummingbird in the rain. Nothing like sitting under a roof staying dry and shooting my favorite little bird in the rain. I shoot them at 1/3200 with a flash. I've tried other shutter speeds, but I like this one the best. Bill's Backyard Bird Blind.
I can do this with my eyes closed! by William Culp Via Flickr: Yesterday here was rain on and off. Bill's Backyard Bird Blind was the place to be. The Ruby-throated Hummingbirds were busy. They like the rain. So I got the flash out and had a ball.
