Chirping female Rufous Hummingbird!! by Debbie Meader Via Flickr: A female Rufous Hummingbird landed on one of our Amistad Salvia stems. She took a minute to rest and stay out of the territorial clashes with other Hummingbirds. A small Bee flew by, and she was chirping and not happy that the little Bee invaded her territory. Photo taken in our backyard in Camas, Washington.
I'm Out of Here!!! by Debbie Meader Via Flickr: Two female Rufous Hummingbirds competing for a prime spot! I leave a few stalks from the spent Yucca blooms, and the Hummingbirds love to perch on them. The first Hummingbird left the perch as the second Hummingbird was coming in to take over the prime spot. I love the feisty personalities of our Rufous Hummingbirds!! Photo taken in our backyard in Camas, Washington.
Male Anna's Hummingbird!! by Debbie Meader Via Flickr: Flash, one of our resident male Anna's Hummingbirds, landed on a Yucca leaf. I was in our backyard with my camera when he flew in, and landed four feet from where I was standing. I had to back up so that I could get him in focus. He was flying from perch to perch while he was patrolling for possible incoming Hummingirds to our yard. His gorget is stunning when the light hits the feathers just right. Photo taken in Camas, Washington.
