something about the comfort and the familiarity the romance dawn trio have with each other. nami automatically picking up luffy's hat after every battle. it's ready and fixed by the time luffy's woken up. zoro throwing apples at the other two whenever he's eating them, a habit as old as their dingy first boat. them catching it without having to look. luffy and zoro accompanying nami whenever it's her turn to keep watch(luffy had hated the way she would look so serious back then, when left to her thoughts. he could tell she was somewhere far away at these moments, somewhere that made her sad. luffy would always bring her back to their little boats. zoro would understand the mission, without luffy having to say a word and soon enough, she'd be shaking her head and laughing at their idiocy. she smiles effortlessly now, but none of them moved to break their little meetings). nami sitting beside luffy and zoro laying unconscious but victorious after battle, her gaze soft, proud and worried. luffy always being the first nami informed whenever they were close to the next island. luffy always giving her a tight hug in return, and rushing over to deliver the news to zoro before sitting on his special seat, eyes fixed on the horizon. nami sharing the tangerines to luffy and zoro first, whenever it's time to pluck them. nami raising zoro's debt time to time, zoro playing along and luffy interrupting the banter by crashing onto them. the romance dawn trio a muddled mess on the floor, scolding luffy. but whenever someone enters the scene, the three of them are laughing, utterly content with the people they are with and where they are.

i just love them, y'all.

love that when luffy heard the name roronoa zoro & found out he was an extremely feared pirate hunter to the point that people called him a demon his first reaction was ‘I’m going to see that guy’ then when he found out he had a soft spot/good person he was like ‘OHHHH he’s coming home w me’. and as for zoro, he was like huh that kid’s crazy. sure I’ll join his non existent pirate crew and follow him into danger. perhaps even die for him! and within a week they’re communicating practically telepathically. first mate successfully acquired
