#Repost @theliberationstation (with @report.for.insta) ... Our Liberation Station Black Lit Library® is now officially and permanently housed in the heart of downtown Durham @thedurhamhotel. This is our 3rd host site location! Our libraries have rotating narratives that represent children of color and own voice authors. Head over to the @thedurhamhotel, choose a book from the shelf, then bring it inside the lobby, get comfortable, and read on purpose! In addition to this exciting news, join us for our Dreaming in Color storytime series starting in March! What is the Liberation Station Black Lit Library? A: The Liberation Station Black Lit Library® was created as a safe reading space for children of color and an extension of our bookstore @theliberationstation. Our selected host sites are considered safe because of the space that was intentionally created to house and protect the dreams, creativity, and intellect of children's narratives who are often marginalized and underrepresented. As the community around us begins to change and the narratives, oral histories, and traditions are at risk of being re-written; our mission is to give a child of color an ounce of territory and assurance that they are and will remain the protagonist of their own stories. Why is it important? A: A child should not be limited to one place to dream or to have access to knowledge. Reading should be an experience and our host sites @thedurhamhotel, @noliacoffee, and @sarahpdukegardens, and bring some of these experiences to life while providing full-length mirrors that reflect both exploration opportunities in these spaces and positively affirming narratives. #liberationstationbookstore #dreameverywhere #innovators #partnership #spacemakers #comevistus #giveaccess #makinghistory #community #shiningon #nc #legacy (at Durham, North Carolina) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7548fxJ2LY/?igshid=58f39gipgoy2
