I wear my hair straight and curly, and answer to no one 💯. When I decided to stop performing relaxers in 2009, I transitioned my entire salon of clients from relaxed to natural hair - WITHOUT A SINGLE BIG CHOP. When done skillfully, you can gradually transition by wearing your hair straight until your virgin hair grows to a length you're comfortable with. My clients wore blowouts for about a year (12 months = 6"), then cut the relaxed ends when they were ready. Once they did, they were still able to flex between straight and curly styles. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ WE WANT EASY + THE LIGHT can be found at thedoux.com. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Apply a quarter-size of WE WANT EASY Texture Tamer to freshly-washed, wet hair to condition and detangle before blowing dry. Spray and distribute throughout hair before and during the use of your flat iron. Ceramic irons (as opposed to titanium) are a much better option for home use, because they require less tension and are less likely to flatten the cuticle. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Tip: Most of us Straight Gangsters love those 450-degree irons because they stay hot between sections, however, most heat protectants reach their boiling point at about 415 degrees. To avoid overheating, purchase 2 flat irons, and set them on a lower heat setting (400 or below). Use iron 1 for one section and iron 2 for the next. Give one iron time to recover its temperature while you're using the other. Ugh. If you're trying to figure out which one of your products went bad, the answer is usually NEITHER. Hair boogers aren't caused by one product alone, they're actually a chemical reaction that occurs when products that aren't compatible are present on the hair at the same time. How to avoid them: ✦ ✦ ✦ Always apply styling products to CLEAN hair. Oil on the hair usually causes flaking when it comes in contact with certain gels and puddings containing glycerin. ✦ If you haven't layered the products before, combine a small amount of each in the palm of your hand to make sure they're a match. ✦ Keep it simple: If you need 5 products to make it happen, you're using the wrong product. ✦ Try to stick with one-product-products. MOUSSE DEF and C.R.E.A.M. were both formulated to be used independently.
