i know everyone likes to say “actual angel pararescue Sam Wilson” but I was thinking, what if he was an angel? A real, bona fide angel, sent down to Earth to rescue humans trapped or injured in battle. And at first he hates it, hates his metal wings, hates pretending to be human, but that’s before Riley. 

Suddenly, all Sam wants to do is stay on Earth, with this extraordinary human who’s just completely changed his whole world. He even tries to make a deal with his Father: Sam will stay on Earth for the rest of his time, always fighting, always haunted by mortal death and ruin, as long as Riley stays safe. For a while, it seems like it’s all going to work out. 

Then Riley is killed, and Sam Falls. There’s no question, there’s no debate. As Riley lays on the ground, bloody and dying with his metal wings bent beneath him, Sam turns away from Heaven. He gives up his real wings, because there was no one he wants to fly with anymore. The only one who belonged in the sky with him is dying. Sam wanders for a long time, lost and alone, haunted by his human love. He tries to help where he can, but he’s not an angel anymore, just the broken shell of one. A specter, a mirage, a ghost of his former celestial glory. 

That’s before Steve. Steve and his shining golden soul that reminds him so much of Riley. Steve, who’s willing to do anything for the man he loves. Steve, and then later Bucky, who need all the help Heaven can provide. Sam doesn’t forgive his Father for taking Riley away, not by a long shot, but he knows that Steve and Bucky were put into his path for a reason. Sam’s always been the guardian of soldiers and lost souls, and in Steve and Bucky he regains his purpose, and he flies again.

Give me your maelstrom girls. Your women with hurricanes in their hearts and tsunamis in their souls.  Give me girls whose mouths spit poison and never smile on command. Give me the ones that burn too hot and bright, and let them go to war. Let them save their sisters who still wear the flower crowns, and don't yet have a taste for violence.

okie so i want to talk about the evolution of Tony and Natasha’s relationship, because they couldn’t have gone from “You’re fired.” “That’s not your call.” to Natasha literally siding with him against Cap without some serious bonding

  • i imagine that Natasha requested to be off of his case as soon as he knew she was SHIELD. the game’s up, her cover’s blown, and she wants nothing to do with this moronic narcissist any longer
  • i also imagine that Fury insists that she stay with him as Natalie, prompting the biggest - and probably only - fight they’ve ever had
  • it’s also probably the only fight she’s ever lost, and so she whiles away the hours at Stark Industries by calling Clint and complaining about all the asinine shit that Tony does
  • there’s probably a moment where Pepper pulls her aside and asks her to keep an eye on Tony bc being a CEO doesn’t give her a lot of time to look out for him, and it’s the first time Natasha sees Tony’s issues as more than just words in his file
  • fast forward to post-Avengers, Natasha’s allowed to be herself around Pepper and Tony but there’s still (even after everything) this wedge of mistrust between them
  • but god dammit if she isn’t invested now. she’s seen what he’s willing to do to keep people safe, and she’ll be damned if he’s gonna do it alone. so she does what she does best:
  • she spies. 
  • flies under the radar.
  • does recon.
  • just keeps an eye on things because she’s seen firsthand how damaged tony is and despite the fact that he doesn’t trust her, she’s not going to let him face any of this alone
  • i also like to think that it’s pepper that forgives her first, and they make a habit of having drinks and basically just talking and enjoying each other’s company (nat is also pepper’s emergency number in case shit really hits the fan)
  • then after IM3, i feel like Natasha would be there during one of Tony’s panic attacks, and just appear out of thin fucking air, rubbing his back and talking about everything and nothing until he can breathe again.
  • they never really address it, but she’s no longer persona non grata after that - Tony also finds a bottle of anti-anxiety meds on his counter one morning. “They help -N.”
  • and somewhere along the line she stops lurking and just hangs out around the mansion, and tony gets to talking to her about, well, everything, and she knows how scared he is, how much he needs to have accountability, and she knows she can’t always be that for him

what im saying is i really want a movie dedicated to their relationship so i can wrap my head around her siding with tony - bc there is so much potential that’s wasted in the MCU bc they hate utilizing natasha for anything other than weird romance plots and as their Strong Female Character (TM)
