It would depend on the thing, the reason for trying it. If it might be beneficial to me, my people, I’m more than willing to test or attempt something. Also torture methods interest me and I do like trying them out on prisoners - you Midgardians have interesting methods, given their overall primitiveness. I’m somewhat interested in trying a few of them.

I...can’t recall. The first time that stands out is when my uncle raped and killed one of his lovers. She’d betrayed him, you see, even tried to sell Jotun technology to her off-world lover. I was playing with the woman’s son when my uncle came out and killed him as well. My uncle got a commendation for it. As far as impact...I’m not sure what you mean. I was disappointed, he was a friend, but traitors are not to be shown mercy.
Black - What is the darkest thing you’ve ever done?
I imagine what I and others might consider “dark” would greatly vary. I will say it troubled me somewhat that, when my father was murdered, I didn’t cry. I didn’t care for others crying either. It bothered me, all that weeping and wailing. Pathetic...but then, with so many others doing it, why couldn’t I?
My biggest note here is that I seriously doubt Býleistr’s first memory of death is, in fact, his first experience with it, haha! I think he was born shortly after Odin’s war with Jotunheim so there was a lot of death around him from the moment he was born...this incident stands out because he felt something about it (it DID impact him), he was friends with the boy killed, he was there in the moment and is able to recall the actual death. Also, he laughed at the PDA question and not just mockingly, like in his answer, LOL!! Thanks for the questions, @holykryptonitekitten, they were great!!

Ummm...I got outta the H.Y.D.R.A. labs all by myself, that was pretty big. Also I once brought back Cyclops from the dead and he says he’s “forever” in my debt, which is nice, I think. Oh oh! And I ate a whole tub of cookie dough faster than anyone else in the mansion.

Haha, I am immortal! I never thought much about it though because I just come back. But I like it, I like bringing other people back too. It’s nice to able to save and fix them. I just don’t like the seizures or headaches that come with it though, they make me sleepy and cranky for days after.

Yup, I sure do! Mostly I just spar, which is play-fighting. I don’t like fighting much, I try not to, but I can. I call it dance-fighting because that’s what everyone else calls it. See...
I have an idea of how Gabe got out of the lab and, it’s actually pretty gruesome for the H.Y.D.R.A. folks, hahahaha!! I think, in general, Gabe doesn’t think about his powers, he doesn’t see how extraordinary they are (or he is), he just thinks “I can fix/stop this” and does it, lol! And I can’t promise you’ll ever actually see him fight hand-to-hand if only because, once he gets to the level where fighting is necessary, he usually just uses his powers to do what he needs to and then takes off, haha! I don’t know. I was born into slavery, separated from all possible family at birth. Slaves are generally not kept together if they’ve a bond and those that are kept together tend to be at greater risk, in my experience.

No, I don’t think I would. I’ve seen and done many things that I wished I had not, but to erase them would change me. I would not have the lessons I learned, the knowledge I’ve gained.

I should say pleasing my mater or mistress, but that is not the truth. The truth is I think most about surviving and how to make my life still worth living.
Ash - Is there something or someone from your past that you miss?
When I was very young I had a child with one of my masters. When his wife found out, she killed the child. She would’ve killed me too, but my master sold me before she was able. I miss him and our lost child so much, I do not try to think on either of them anymore.
Iron - Have you ever used a weapon? Do you own one? If so what is it?
Only in fighting other slaves, be it for sport or self-defense. I was trained for combat, briefly, and am able to use a number of weapons. I don’t own any though, it’s illegal for a slave to own such things. The closest to owning a weapon I’ve come is having, using, the poisonous venom that comes naturally to my species. That is a weapon that cannot be taken from me.
Black - What is the darkest thing you’ve ever done?
I’ve killed other slaves. Some in competition, some of defense. One for preying on slave children, which was, as humans say, the most cold-blooded thing I’ve done. I’ve never regretted though and would do it again, if need be.

Black - What is the darkest thing you’ve ever done?
I worked for Division 3 of S.H.I.E.L.D. using my abilities to find other mutants. I thought I was sending them to safety, to be helped, but in the end I discovered they were not given those things and, instead, often held as prisoners...and, if certain rumors are true, worse. It’s the worst, darkest, thing I’ve done and my biggest regret, I think.
Ebony - Describe your family
My birth mother was human, my birth father a mutant, but they are both deceased, I’m afraid. I don’t recall them, but am told they died protecting my elder brother, Dustin, and I. Dustin, who prefers Dusty, is also a mutant, though we’ve different abilities - his is the ability to activate and deactivate others’ powers. My adopted parents are very kind, though not mutants so there’s a slight disconnect in our world views at times. Still, I love them very much and have no doubt they’ve always loved me.
Onyx - What are your nightmares most often about?
Possible deaths I have been, or at least feel, responsible for. Those of my parents, those of mutants I found while working for Division 3. I’ve also experienced the fear associated with nightmares while my dreams remain quite tame as my powers of empathy roam while I sleep.
Obsidian - Do you suffer from any mental disabilities?
Depression, mainly. It’s not a constant, but it’s there and can be easily trigged when I’m near others’ suffering. Anxiety is also an issue at times, but I’m not sure it’s so bad as to be diagnosable as a disability or disorder.
Spider - What irrational fears do you have?
Irrational fears? Going hungry. I’ve plenty of food, always have had to my recall, but for some reason I always fear I won’t. It’s made all the more irrational given I don’t actually eat much to start. I’m also not fond of the dark, but I can handle it.
Charcoal - on a scale of one to ten how would you rate your survival skills?
It depends on the circumstances that need surviving, but perhaps a 7 or 8? I consider myself relatively adaptable to most things and, when out of my element, I can usually find and befriend someone more skilled than I. I’ve also been blessed to have friends, such as Logan, who’ve taught me to survive the wilderness.

Most of the time, Malina is actually rather stable mentally - born into slavery she’s accustomed to being treated as such and manages to navigate within her world quite well. More recently The Creator’s experiments have left her on edge and sadder than in the past though and hope of a better master/mistress is fast fading...That said, she continues to be respected by others of her station and remains strong as possible so that she might, at least, survive.
Ehehehe, that was fun and reminds me that, fuck, I gotta catch up with her...maybe in Loki’s next piece or two??

I confess, more than family, it was my years in nursing school that forced me into being one.
You just can’t go 24-48+ hours without sleep every couple days and still function so I had to give in, go to bed early, so I could wake up around 4-5AM and still be able to do what I needed for my clinical.

No, I’m not a nurse @chibiyanai...I did 3 out of the required 4 years of nursing school - did well too - but it ultimately wasn’t for me. I always got in trouble for talking to the patients too much, which ultimately turned the experience sour for me. (The hours and aggressive competition encouraged by the teachers also didn’t help, heh.)
I am now and have always been - career wise - a writer first and foremost. Though I’ve worked in hospitals now and again and, if I had the money, I’d likely go back to school in order to gain a Master’s degree in Psychology. (I currently have my Bachelor’s in in along with English and a Master’s in English with a concentration in Creative Writing.)

Here’s a hot take: villains should be relatable.
Not every villain, not every time, and certainly not to everyone at once, but there should be moments. We should, occasionally, be able to see ourselves in the bad guys, be able to understand how they got there.
Because it reminds us not to fucking go there.
Antis who get upset about villains having relatable qualities (often couched as being “romanticized” or “woobified”) are people who cannot bear to ever think of themselves as having the capability of being wrong.
Every human alive is capable of being a horrible person. Relatable villains remind us to keep an eye on that shit.

He moves through the world looking human and people assume he is one @wickednerdery.
YES!!! He is a complete and utter psychopath of the highest order (I’ve no doubt Pope would be diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder). Every thing and every one is either to be used or destroyed and there’s nothing he isn’t capable of…all the while he puts on a show of docility, but even then always with the undercurrent of a threat as he sizes up and stares down with his gaze.
I could never truly express how amazing Ben was as this character @losethehours 😊
@wickednerdery I don’t think he does anything for show. I don’t think he ever intends to threaten. He seems a visceral creature so his actions are all based on gut instinct. Stop, Go, Eat, Sleep, Kill.
He has that stare but it does not seem to be a threat it is simply how he looks at everything and everyone. Which makes it all the more terrifying.
Nothing about him can be predicted and none of the current psychiatric labels are enough.
People around him learn to never catch his attention for anything.
The only one he seems to genuinely communicate with in any form is his mother. He’s learned from her that his brother’s are not to be physically harmed and he obeys that law. It does not extend to anyone else though.
When he is searching the house for his keys and is frustrated, agitated then even his thinking and language skills drop away. In trying to ask about the pretty young girlfriend he starts throwing out words and the one thing he did that was the most telling, the most chilling was how he threw in the word “human” under his breath. That’s one of his labels for her, “human”. That one thrown in moment said more to me than anything else. Who thinks in those terms? What thinks in those terms?
He is also very smart. He knows his family members are idiots so his paranoia is always set to high and he does not confer with them before he acts.
Oh, see, I really think he does, haha! Like when he’s asking Darren if he’s gay and if he’s scared...I think he intends to insult and intimidate, bully the younger into not backing out, but in a way that’s subtle and prevents Darren from responding negatively because Pope’s “just asking”, just wants Darren to talk to him about those things. (Outside as ammo, I doubt he cares if Darren is gay or scared lol.)
I agree on the stare @losethehours ...the threat isn’t intentional, it’s just how he looks at everything, but that sort of look is always threatening because it naturally says “you’re nothing/you’re food”. (I think even Ben said “Don’t look into his eyes because he’s just looking where he’s going to fucking bite you.”)
...He’s a shark in a human suit and while he tries to pass as the rest of us, he doesn’t wear that suit well enough. It’s why his seeming helpfulness/curiosity/human behavior never quite sits right and he becomes all the more disturbing to watch.
And, yes, he’s very bright and why he generally keeps his family out of the loop...I’ve always imagined his mother is one of the only ones who could keep up with his mind/match his personality on any level (her own viciousness is wonderfully interesting and, ha, far more subtle) and that’s why they seem to share a bond that seems otherwise impossible for a man - creature? - like Pope.
Also I agree that that scene where he goes “human” is one of the most revealing ones for his character....like you point out, who/what thinks in those terms? Because it’s not a human - I still imagine he’d be diagnosed with APD, but that doesn’t even cover what Pope is.
((PS: I love that I have someone to delve into Pope’s psychology/character with, finally, haha! And bless Ben for making him the creature-character he is!)
