Ooc: Imagine that two of those penguins are actually Ulfr and Gilrin. 🤣

Hahahaha, I could see it...and Ulfr (of course) suggests the smallest, tag-a-long, one is Loki. 😜😂

((Could be that brother though too, I think, lol!!))

Who do you like better, Lady Gilrin Loki or Ulfr?

❝I cannot possibly comment. I’d rather not choose, between them.❞

@wickednerdery Thought you’d appreciate this ask that I got from a curious anon. ☺😘

“Ah, come on, you know it’s me…I don’t see Loki stealing penguins for you.”

@lady-crowned-with-stars omg bless this anon…BLESS YOU ANON!!! 😘

True, he may not steal penguins for me,” She agrees, grinning at him, before she continues in a playful tone. “But I think he may be inclined to buy them for me.” Gilrin lets out a laugh afterwards, unsure whether he would do such, but still.

“Well, I could buy them for you, if you wanted,” he smirks. “Just seems so much less fun. Also, who decided these penguins are property to be bought and sold? Perhaps I’m just...rightly freeing them. Animal rights and all that.” He’s less debating, taking a stand, as being playful...or playfully oppositional, depending on how one looked at it.

So I just saw a thing on Pintrest that said Come to the dark side. We have penguins. It made me think of Ulfr. Lol.

Wow, really?! Awesome!! I’ve never seen it before, but that could most certainly work to recruit Ulfr, hahaha!! Kidding! He’s more likely to say it than fall for it…but then he does love penguins…

((…Now to hunt for it…))

❝Do not give me that look.❞

“But…penguins!!” He makes his face all the more pleading. “Look at them, just waddling about behind the glass with nothing to do and no one to play with. It’s not stealing, it’s liberating.”

(( @lady-crowned-with-stars I hope this is all right…We did, in fact, discuss them taking penguins from a zoo then going for ice cream after all, haha!!))

“Ulfr, I love penguins as much as the next person…but we have no idea how to take care of one.”

Gilrin lets out a sigh as she glances at his pleading expression.

“Fine, we can borrow one or two…or,”

The elleth looks back to the penguins.

“a bunch of them for the time being…”

She gives in to his plea, finding it hard in herself to say no to the jotun.

// This is more than okay. 💙 Funny thing I actually had this scenario in my head after our convo for this particular starter.//

“You feed them fish, keep them cold, but not too cold…also they like the water.” Surely if he could keep a Midgardian alive, he could do the same with a penguin…

“Yes!!” He chuckles in excited delight, then looks around and makes his move…a gentle wiggle of his fingers and penguins once contained in their enclosure are suddenly transported, squawking, at their feet. “See…they like it better out here in the open.”

“…Maybe we should carry one and it’ll get the others to follow?” He hadn’t thought it all out, like usual.

// Yay! And, haha, yeah that started was perfect for this!!//

“I expected you to think things through at least, not just rush into owning penguins!”

She unties her hair from her pony tail, letting it cascade down her back in chocolate waves.

“Alright, seeing that this was all your idea, you have the honours to pick one of them up.”

She motions to the skuawking birds.

“Hmm…maybe choose one from the front of the group…”

//Indeed, it was fitting like a glove. :)//

“In fairness, I only planned to take one, two at the most, but you said a bunch and that sounded even better.” He laughs, then carefully moves towards the birds before leaning down to lift the first in line. It nearly screeches before settling some under Ulfr’s hold.

“Oh my gods, it’s so soft!!” He looks down, petting it carefully, before grinning at the elleth. “You should totally carry one too, it’s like the stuffed animal ones only, you know, alive.”

She contemplates on his offer to pick one of them up, they did seem soft enough and so cute. So how could she refuse?

She carefully reaches down to pick one of them up in her arms.

“Oh, my gods! So fluffy and soft…”

She supprasses the urge to hug the bird closer to herself. The brunette couldn’t help but have a bright smile on her face as she looks down at the bird in her arms before looking over to Ulfr standing in a similiar position as her.

He smiles watching her, more at her exclamation. For all her protests, she seemed to indulge his whims anyway…and enjoy what came of them.

“Here…” he waves fingers again, returning the rest of the penguins to their enclosure. “We’ll keep it simple, one penguin each. If it works out we can come back for more.”

Without concern of others watching he proceeds to head off with Gilrin. “Hey, you hungry? We can get ice cream…” His favorite and always first suggestion for food. “And fish for the penguins.”

She has to admit to herself this was great fun, despite her reluctance at first.

“We should feed them first then get ourselves ice cream…mhm…” Gilrin nods in agreement, her excitement and joy radiating off of her.

She hums softly, petting the bird in her arms falling in step next to the much taller man.

//Katie is so adorable in this GIF. ❤💚//

“Hmmm…right…well they eat fish, but not cooked.” He doesn’t think letting them hunt for themselves a good idea, they might get away, so continues to think as they all head out.

“How about a seafood restaurant? They must have raw fish available…and ice cream, so then it’s win-win.” His penguin squawks, flaps. “Ah, see! He…she?” Seems rude to check. “The penguin thinks it’s a great idea!” Ulfr chuckles, returning the next squawk with his own.

//She is…also, clearly, Ulfr is an actual five-year-old, haha!💙//

“Hmmm…sounds like a plan. Do you think there is one nearby?” She tilts her head back slightly as her own penguin starts flapping their wings in response to Ulfr’s.

“They seem to think that too, right little one?” She giggles softly, looking down at the bird.

“Oh sure, we’re at a zoo…Midgardians always put a ton of restaurants where they have their zoos and parks and things.” It was just a matter of getting to one before someone stopped them…thankfully a bit of illusion and all anyone would see is them carrying stuff penguins.

Ulfr stops with a smile before a large set of doors with fish decals on the window and brass fish door handles. His penguin flaps excitedly, tries to wriggle free, but Ulfr holds it fast to his chest. “Perfect!”

Penguin held tight in one arm, he opens the door for Gilrin with his free hand. “After you…”

“How chivalrous of you.” She smiles at him over her shoulder as she walks in, swaying her hips a tad suggestively.

She holds her pinguin in her arms before she sets them down on the ground after being joined by the frost giant.

“Let’s get you something to eat hm?” She chuckles as the bird squawks.

“Well…” he arches brows playfully. “Yeah.” He watches her enter with a pleasantly crooked smile; he’s not oblivious to the hip sway, never was and never is.

The frost giant isn’t hard to miss; the host comes over to direct them to a table straight away and, after setting his own penguin in the chair beside him, Ulfr orders fish he knows is served raw for their new pets. It flaps, chirps as it pecks at the tablecloth.

Ulf shrugs it off as he smiles to the elleth. “What would you like, Gilrin?”

“Mhm…I think I’ll try one of their teas, as for… Hey, stop that!” She pulls the napkin away from her penguin, placing it out of their reach.

“As for the meal, I’m not that hungry so ice cream, hmm…maybe banana split if they have any.” She leans back in her chair.

“What about you, Ulfr?” She asks with a smile.

Ulfr watches her with a smile, giving up a chuckle at her mischievous penguin, before grinning wide at her order. “I think…you’re a girl after my own heart.” It sounded like the right phrase and, if not correct, appropriate at least.

“Ice cream sundae and a Coca Cola.” He orders before looking back at her. “What should we name them, you think?” He meant the penguins, naturally.

She giggles at his choice of words, a soft smile adorning her features.

She taps her chin in thought, looking over at her penguin petting it gently.

“Mmm…I don’t know we don’t even know their gender. We should probably wait with naming them seeing that we may not keep them.”

She bits her lower lip, knowing that if she were to name her mischievious penguin now she wouldn’t be able to let them go.

“True…and now it seems rude to ask,” Ulfr jokes, referring to the genders of the penguins. Then he frowns some. “Why wouldn’t we keep them? Look at how happy they are, out and about in the open.”

As if in reply his own penguin yelps, needs to be caught by the frost giant as it attempts a leap off its chair at the arrival of the raw seafood dish.

“See, it likes the freedom so much it can barely contain itself.” Ulfr still wasn’t thinking it through, though the slight reddening of his cheeks gave away his concern they’d been a touch foolish to just grab and run with penguins.

She couldn’t help but chuckle at his joke.

“Well, because they are wild animals, they aren’t domesticated like how dogs or even cats have been.”

She raises her eyebrow in amusement as her own penguin stays suprisingly calm upon the arrival of the raw fish.

“Besides do you know of a place where we could keep them properly?”

“I thought people on Midgard domesticated all sorts of things…like monkeys and those weird little puffballs…hamsters, I think they’re called?” He liked hamsters in theory, in practice they were much too small for him. Monkeys were okay, but seemed close enough to children that one might as well have a child than get a monkey.

At the question he gave an unsure smile. “Ummm…one of our planets? Probably yours, my people might try to eat them.” It sounded like a joke, but it wasn’t. Something penguin-sized would seem like a snack to a Frost Giant. “…I really didn’t think this through at all, did I?” It was finally starting to sink in.

//I may take forever, but I do reply, lol!! Thank you for your patience! 😁//

“Look, my knowledge of midgardians isn’t any better than yours.” She shrugs chuckling softly.

“Hmm…sounds plausible, I haven’t been home in awhile…”

She raises her eyebrows at his admitance of not thinking it through.

“No, you haven’t. Is it the same with you when it comes to battles or is it just when you are liberating penguins?”

She teases with a smirk forming on her lips.

“Oh…huh…then I guess we’re learning together,” he laughs, gives a shrug, then smiles once more. “It’s certainly better than Jotunheim…for you and the penguins.” He loves his homeland, but it’s not for everyone. Certainly not for such beautiful and delicate things like her and penguins.

At the last question he goes silent, more serious, in thought. “No.” He considers how to answer, how to explain. “Battles are a duty, I don’t have an option but to achieve my goal. One wrong decision or miscalculation and people die. ”

His smile attempts a return. “My impulsiveness comes in seeking pleasures, such as liberating penguins.”

She nods and chuckles softly, Jotunheim had it’s charms like the frost giant sitting with her but she can’t help but prefer her own home over it.

She is a little suprised as his more serious side comes through.

“I’m aware of that, my father has given me his fair share of battle tactics and such, even had me construct a battle plan as if I were in a life and death situation. He kept my painting supplies with him and if I didn’t make a quick enough decision or a good one he’d destroy one in front of me. They were all easily replacable but still dear to me.”

Thinking back on it as much as she hated her father for this method it partly made her into the quick-witted elleth she is today.

She decides to lighten the mood seeing that his smiles and an opportunity to do so has returned.

“What other pleasures are you this impulsive in?” Her green eyes twinkle playfully.

“Could’ve been worse…could’ve been a pet.” It was an attempt to lighten the mood, but not quite a joke. And apparently it wasn’t well-received as his penguin snapped at him, just catching the arm of his shirt. “I didn’t mean you, you’d be food.” The penguin squawks, bristles, as if offended, to which Ulfr simply laughs and tells it to eat its food. It does.

At the new question he gives a cheeky grin….right before the ice cream arrives.

“Oh…all sorts. Food, for one.” Still, he holds off from eating immediately. “Ice cream especially. Snow activities, archery’s fun, so’s sparring with the right partner. I enjoy gifts, giving and receiving.” He’s intentionally making his answer long, listing random things, just to amuse and, yes, tease a bit. “I can be very impulsive with people I find attractive, but I’m told it’s impolite to be too impulsive on Midgard. Not everyone appreciates being grabbed and kissed by a stranger, you know.”

His smile remains as he leans on the table towards her slightly. “On Jotunheim such acts are more…appropriate, of course. We’re encouraged to take what we find pleasure in. But what about your people? Do you do what you please or ask permission first?”

She couldn’t keep the laugh from escaping her lips at his penguins reaction, it is rather amusing. She hums in agreement to his statement musing over what if she kept animals at home? Would her father have killed her pets to motivate her in figuring out the right strategy. Fortunatelly this remains an unanswered question in her life.

She patiently awaits as he finishes listing off the things he finds pleasure in, she’ll get back at him for teasing her.

“My people? I would say some may consider the more direct approach of your people taking whatever they’d find pleasure in. Others are less straightforward, asking permission in matters that require it. Such as kissing somebody for example, now I’m not much of a direct person so kissing a complete stranger is out of the question for me however attractive they may be.”

She takes a bit of her ice cream, letting out a soft moan at the delicious taste of it.

“However when it comes down to kissing somebody that I know and find attractive…I’d say I might take the initiative. But it all depends on the person and the situation.”

She takes another spoonful of her ice cream, keeping the eye contact with him as she lick a droplet of it off from her lower lip.

Ulfr listens with interest, trying to follow…her people sounded more like Midgardians than his; each person was different, it was safer to ask before taking. Especially given, often, he hadn’t a clue which matters required permission and which didn’t with other cultures. He didn’t want to offend…he especially didn’t want to offend her. She was a friend. At least a friend, he wasn’t sure how the hierarchy of relationships went outside his own people.

At her moan his brows lift with along with his lips. Intentional or not on her part, it was an enjoyable sound to hear. Just as it was an enjoyable sight as her tongue slipped out to collect the ice cream from her own lip.

“And what, exactly…” he tucks lips in to collect remnants of his own ice cream, arches brows again as he teases some. “Might be a good person and situation for you to take the initiative, Gilrin? You know…for future reference?”

A playful smirk forms on her lips at his question. She purposefully takes another bite of her icy treat before answering him seeing that he too teased her.

“Well, I do like men with a sense of ambition, somebody who knows what he wants, somebody who can keep up with me, who doesn’t mind that I’m a tease, one who accepts that he wouldn’t be able to tame me.”

She takes her cup of tea from the waiter offering a smile and saying thank you in a kind tone.

Gilrin sips from her tea continuing her speech afterwards.

“Somebody who would accept me as I am. Who wouldn’t try to change me but would still aspire me to be a better person.”

She gives him an apologetic smile as she realises her description has been on and on.

“As for the situation, I don’t know to be honest, it could be anywhere so long as the mood calls for it.”

He considers her answer, wonders how he stacks up against the requirements. He imagines he does all right; memories of Asta keep him from growing so attached he’d wish to tame her or even keep her to him - even as a friend - if she wished otherwise. Ulfr never had trouble going after what he wanted, he’d been called ambitious more than once, and he certainly didn’t wish to change anyone else. All people proved dull if forced into change, stopped being themselves.

Lips spread as she stops, smiles. “You’ve given this quite a lot of thought…I like that.” He hasn’t; he’s not even bothered to look for another mate of any kind after losing his first. “I usually just go with those that interest me, that I have a good time with, that won’t judge. I’m afraid I’m what a Midgardian would call ‘terribly easy’ though.” In all its various meanings, he’s sure.

“Probably not a random seafood restaurant with a couple of penguins looking on though,” he jokes concerning her description of a good situation. “I imagine something closer to one of those romance movies…candlelight and rainstorms and all that.” He’s guessing, situation held no matter to him or his kind overall so he never thought on it himself.

She has given enough thought to this indeed, she had the time to think things through perfectly, not that a man or woman for that matter would have to meet all of her expectations but she would certainly never lower her standards for anybody.

She takes a sip from her tea before, taking another bite of ice cream from her plate.

“I wouldn’t have thought that you could fit into the ‘terribly easy’ category, now that is a surprise.”

The elleth has an amused expression at his statement, she wonders what does it entail exactly.

She laughs at his joke.

“Well, I’m not so picky about the venue until the person whom I am with proves good company.”

Gilrin leaves her statement up to his interpertation as she cuts a slice of banana scooping it up with some ice cream.

Ulfr gives a laugh at her comment on him being considered terribly easy. “I’m not entirely sure what it means, to be honest. I think...” he shrugs. “I think it’s because I tend to go with whatever, whoever, interests me and, it just so happens, a lot interests me.” Only once someone proves interesting beyond the initial meeting, shows they will not judge, does Ulfr stick around...though once he does he’s remarkably loyal and protective.

He turns back to eating with surprising vigor as she explains the person is more important than the venue to her...then he sets aside what’s left of his sundae to speak. “How does one prove good company? To you, I mean.”

The Jotun leans in slowly, but instead of reaching for her he goes to touch her bowl of ice cream, refreezing what’s melted for her.  “Am I good company, Gilrin?” He smiles at her, just this side of mischievous.

“You’ve given this quite a lot of thought...I like that.” He hasn’t; he’s not even bothered to look for another mate of any kind after losing his first.

“I imagine something closer to one of those romance movies...candlelight and rainstorms and all that.” He’s guessing, situation held no matter to him or his kind overall so he never thought on it himself.

//She is…also, clearly, Ulfr is an actual five-year-old, haha!💙//

Ulfr listens with interest, trying to follow...her people sounded more like Midgardians than his; each person was different, it was safer to ask before taking. Especially given, often, he hadn’t a clue which matters required permission and which didn’t with other cultures. He didn’t want to offend...he especially didn’t want to offend her. She was a friend. At least a friend, he wasn’t sure how the hierarchy of relationships went outside his own people.

“Oh...huh...then I guess we’re learning together,” he laughs, gives a shrug, then smiles once more. “It’s certainly better than Jotunheim...for you and the penguins.” He loves his homeland, but it’s not for everyone.

//She is…also, clearly, Ulfr is an actual five-year-old, haha!💙//

//She is…also, clearly, Ulfr is an actual five-year-old, haha!💙//

“Well...” he arches brows playfully.
