For this Au dabi being burned up is still canon, but his body got taken by Dr. Garaki, who then did some experiments on how far the line between human & machine can be blurred. Hawks on the other hand got made into a cyborg by the hpsc and in this scene Dabi (who is somewhat a mechanic by necessity) is trying to remove the tracker build in by the comission and giving him some nice updates
