it's always so fascinating and heartbreaking when a character in a story is simultaneously idolized and abused. a chosen prophet destined for martyrdom. a child prodigy forced to grow up too fast. a powerful warrior raised as nothing but a weapon. there's just something so uniquely messed up about singing someone's praises whilst destroying them.
Love the age old (usually sci-fi) trope of having whumpee on a table with electrodes attached to their head while they go through a dreamscape, memories, virtual reality, or what have you.
They get all sweaty, their face contorts in discomfort/pain, they moan and groan, sometimes cry out, writhe around a bit. Mmmmmm.
Excerpt from many chapters down the line in my writing:
"When is the last time you slept?"
"Hm? Uh, last night, why?"
"Because you're usually a much better liar than that."
is there a market for fucked up bachelors around here 🙏
Fantasy Overstimulation Whump
I’ve had this blog for only a couple of days but I don’t talk about this enough.
- Whumpee is extremely powerful, so powerful that the magic or the skill level HURT. But it’s fine, because they have a task. Or a duty. And it’s not like they could escape the neverending Too Much while they’re alive
- whumpee can read minds and/or emotions and is always bombarded by everyone else’s thought and feelings, breaking down sobbing as an enemy’s hatred knocks them to the ground.
- Whumpee makes Whumpee keep going in training, in battle, far past their limit, but stopping, they know, will only result in others being hurt, in failure, in punishment. So the fire blast keeps on until their hand is shriveled and burnt. The power keeps coming out of them until they’re screaming in the agony of too much
- Caretake notices the way Whumpee stumbles from battles, flinching at every sound and light and touch. What’s wrong? They wonder. Why is Whumpee so jumpy, and why does it keep getting worse?
- Whumpee doesn’t know its not normal for the world to be Too Much, thinks it’s something everyone has so no one talks about it. One day they mention the way their power overwhelms them and their friends just… stare…
I could go on.
