Whumpee was pulling their shirt on when they heard the door open. They tried tugging it down as quickly as they could, but they still heard the sharp inhale.

"Whumpee?" Caretaker asked tentatively. "What- what was that?"

Whumpee knew they were talking about the scars, of every shape, size, and texture, created through years of unending agony. Whumpee didn't turn around for a long moment, before finally spinning and, keeping their eyes averted, brushing past Caretaker. "Nothing," they said, forcing their voice to remain light. "It was nothing."

Caretaker tried to grab their arm but they flinched away, pulse quickening. "Whumpee, that wasn't nothing," Caretaker said insistently.

"Yes it was!" Whumpee snapped, trying to fight the tears that suddenly began to form in their eyes. "It was nothing, and you weren't meant to see them!"

"But, Whumpee-"

"But nothing!" they interrupted. "Just- just leave it alone, Caretaker!"
