Jaskier is pretty spooked, but together they get through that. (I have the next page sketched out, but it's... a lot.)
"do you think..." their voice faltered, as they looked down at the broken body of their teammate on the ground. "do you think they'll..."
"I'm not thinking anything yet," said the healer, grimly, kneeling down next to them. "we'll just do what we can, all right?"
I’d like to think healing magic naturally doesn’t produce the soothing light it’s associated with. Rather, healers make the light on purpose to distract you from wound gore and keep you calm.
Rogue with a large bleeding wound: Haha, so bright, can’t see a thing! Healer, lying: It’s just a tiny cut, don’t worry :)
A healer with no bedside manner: *cast heal without the blinding/obscuring glow*
The barbarian seeing the flesh of his leg writhing and knitting itself together: wtf
I really live for the trope where a big, strong, whumpee has been kept in isolation for so long, and one day the whumper decides to send in a healer, and they’re this itty bitty little thing. So they go in, and the whumpee is absolutely scared shitless, wondering why the healer is so gentle, why they aren’t afraid of them.
YESSS. I like this particularly with monster whump! Also gladiator stuff fits quite well. Maybe the whumpee is an older, grizzled fighter, and they’ve been left to rot in their cell. They’d be so confused if someone was sent to patch them up!
"The healer has the bloodiest hands."
You cannot treat a wound without knowing how deep it goes.
You cannot heal pain by hiding it.
You must accept.
Accept the blood to make things better.
You have taken the first step.
That is the hardest part.
My favorite pair type is the healer and the reckless—luckily Handers reigns over that with utter ease.
Daily whump challenge:
Hurt the healer.
