Sometimes Z2 felt invisible, like a dog that gets underfoot. As lonely as that could be, it was better than when they remembered him. When they remembered him, they wanted to play with him.

He sometimes thought he might be a bad person. Prisoner. Pet. Whatever it was that made up his heart. The brutal process of refurbishing did not cleanse him like a fire, but left him still rotten somewhere deep down.

What was worse- he would wish someone else in his stead. Even for just a moment. Just a night, or an hour. It was wrong to think something like that. But he was tired, and always so scared.

And they were planning something.
