Archery In Whump

As your local archer, I am here to explain some things that show how much whump potential archery has!

String slap - an issue many beginners run into where they can't put their bow arm (or non-dominant arm) elbow at the right angle, so the string hits when released. It leaves some nasty bruising that often turns purple. Added bonus if they're wearing an arm guard and the string gets caught underneath, it pinches the skin as well

Face pinching (ish) - depending on how they anchor (where they put their hand or back end of their arrow on their face), the string could pull at their skin or hit their nose when released. (You can see the prevention of this on one of this year's olympic archer's faces with the tape on her chin)

Bare knuckle pulling - If your whumpee is being forced to shoot, a good way to add more pain is making them shoot without hand protection. If they pull the string (with their dominant hand) without any layer of protection it will bruise the inside of their knuckles

Draw Holds - this is just muscle strain. Have your whumpee hold their bow at full draw for as long as possible (bonus points if you have a knife/blade under their string arm so if they release they stab themselves). Their arms will shake and their hand will slowly come away from their face

Arrows shattering - So, Whumpee hit a hard object with a carbon or wood arrow and didn't notice it was damaged (or have been forced to shoot it again)! Now they get to shoot it again, but since it's cracked the arrow will shatter opon release, lodging directly into their bow arm (non-dominant arm).

Sore Muscles - If whumpee has been working extra hard, they're going to be sore. Where? Many places. On their dominant/string arm: Their carpals (hand bones), forearm, tricep, as well as their shoulders (especially between the shoulder blades). For a bonus you could add some lower back pain from a too-tight quiver belt or poor core muscles

Any more questions, I will answer to the best of my ability!
