I kept stumbling on so many great quotes in media, books, music, that have the whumpiest vibes!

I wanted to create a blog to collect them all!

I'd love for these to be used as inspiration and prompts for your writings or your whumpy daydreams, or whatever you want to use them for!

For now, I'll post 1 quote a day.

Also, submissions are open!

Here are the rules:

  • Quotes should be specifically from already existing media! I love the prompts you all make up, but there are already such great blogs for these! This is specifically for those sentences you stumble over in the wild that give you whumperflies!
  • Keep the quotes short-ish! I'd say for now max 4 sentences/lines. I might change this later, this is experimental for now :D
  • You can submit multiple quotes from the same source
  • I'll take submissions from novels, poetry, songs, TV and Film (I'm also going to include youtube, for now)
  • You can send submissions via the submission function or through asks
  • Include the quote, the author/who said it, the source, and the source type (aka novel, TV show etc) please!
  • Now with a way to love your friends! Introducing Shoutout Saturday!

Here’s the tags I’m currently planning to use:

novels / poetry / songs / visual media (for everything from movies, TV, YT, etc.) / misc / reblogs / not a quote / Shoutout Saturday

““Monster” is derived from the Latin noun monstrum, “divine portent,” itself formed on the root of the verb monere, “to warn.” It came to refer to living things of anomalous shape or structure, or to fabulous creatures like the sphinx who were composed of strikingly incongruous parts, because the ancients considered the appearance of such beings to be a sign of some impending supernatural event. Monsters, like angels, functioned as messengers and heralds of the extraordinary. They served to announce impending revelation, saying, in effect, “Pay attention; something of profound importance is happening.””
