They had tried. They had tried for days, weeks, months, and nothing worked. They had tried to be good, they had tried to be obedient, they had tried to do everything Whumper asked of them and nothing fucking worked. Their rage had been boiling under the surface for too long. They just couldn’t keep it up anymore. They couldn’t be a good lapdog.
When the door to the basement opened, they didn’t waste a single second. They used the fact that their good behaviour had at least earned them freedom from the chains of their early days and they punched Whumper, catching them off guard.
“What the fuck?” they asked, stumbling back, but Whumpee punched them again, and again, and again— until their arm was grabbed and wrenched behind their back, Whumper pushing them up against the wall. “What the fuck was that supposed to be?” they growled.
“I hate you!” Whumpee screamed, trying to get free from their grasp. “I hate you! I hate you! It doesn’t matter what I do, nothing is ever good enough! You just keep beating me! I don’t care anymore, I won’t keep trying, I fucking hate you, I wish you were dead, I wish I could kill you!”
Whumper pushed Whumpee’s arm further, threatening to dislocate their shoulder. “Oh yeah? You think me just beating you isn’t a privilege? Whumpee… I could make it so much worse.” They pushed their arm even further. “And now that you’ve gone and squandered your chance at a decent life here, I will.”

Pain
A whumpee who starts experiencing sadistic thoughts during their recovery. They want to inflict pain on someone. It's a compulsion, a tick in their brain they never had before.
They feel horribly, soul-crushingly guilty. Because they know exactly what it feels like, how awful it is. And they want to do it anyways.
And then they acted on those thoughts.

Okay, but- Whumpee discovering that Whumper is wearing a shock collar
Whumpee struggling to keep their darkness in their heart in check. They went through so much shit, but they try so hard not to snap.
Then something bad happened. Whumpee was hurt. Badly. So they gave in on their darkness and became a Whumper, torturing, hurting, and even killing people. Even hurting their team and their dearly beloved Caretaker.
Whumpee was no more. They're now known as Whumper.
Okay but-
Whumper as a whumpee themselves. Cycle of violence and trauma and all that shit. Maybe someone higher up has a loved one of theirs hostage, and is forcing them to hurt people they care about in order to keep their loved one from being killed. Or mind control- preferably the kind that keeps them lucid enough to know what they're doing but powerless to resist as they hurt someone that they care about and do things they never would have.

Your average whumper, except that they are, at the same time, a heavily-conditioned, obedient, and loyal whumpee to another whumper.
"Oh, this will be good. I'm not allowed to do this kind of thing most of the time."
"Who the hell 'allows' you to do anything like this? This is fucked up and illegal!"
For a second, a different emotion flashed across Whumper's eyes. A heartbeat later, Whumper grinned.
"Oh, just somebody. Now, stay still, it only hurts more if you struggle."

The whumpee wanted to be the bigger person- they wanted to move on, but seeing the whumper in the same spot the whumpee had been in before felt too satisfying- they wanted to make the whumper beg for mercy like they had, and they wanted to see the whumper cry as much as they did.
