THIS IS THE BEST FUCKING EDIT I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY FUCKING LIFE OH MY GOSH GET OUT OF HERE OH MY GOODNESS
you do know that ben solo canonically had a happy childhood, right? like it's literally canon that he had a stable and happy childhood with two loving, married parents who lived with him and doted on him. he had friends. he felt joy. he turned dark by choice as an adult man. oh my god
didnt han bail like most of the time during his childhood?
didnt leia freak out about bens force sensitivity and send him to luke to train???
they werent abusive but han and leia are not parent material…
who told you this?
none of what you said is canon, per all three aftermath books, bloodline, and all of the tfa tie-in material that mentions anyone in the organa-solo family. and also tfa itself.
Han lived with Leia and Ben except for BRIEF PERIODS when he would go host a charity ship race, sometimes taking Ben with him. he was not a smuggler or gambler during Ben’s childhood and returned to that life only after Kylo Ren ~became~, causing Han and Leia to become estranged. canon. per bloodline.
Leia was not a negligent mother; she took baby Ben with her everywhere and SHE IS FORCE SENSITIVE HERSELF, so when she sent Ben to Luke it was because he’d already hurt someone by accident (per ppppablo? iirc? at any rate –) Luke is??? Ben’s uncle??? they’d known each other Ben’s whole life??? it’s not like she shipped him off to Siberia with strangers?? she was literally doing what was best for for the child she ADORED AND KEPT UP CONSTANT CONTACT WITH – CANONICALLY – until BEN cut off that contact… as a 23-y/o adult man. canon, per bloodline and to a lesser extent empire’s end.
also canon things: Ben was capable of normal and happy childhood socialization! he had friends! he grew up on a safe planet that was not a war zone and he was in no physical danger there! he was literally doted on and spoiled by lando, chewie, and Luke! Kylo Ren chose to become a warlord all by himself as an adult man! he chose to murder Luke’s students! he chose to spit in the face of bail organa’s legacy even though bail was the man he grew up knowing to be his grandfather! he is an adult making those choices as an adult, not a poor lamb-child!
i know it’s cool and edgy to act like his behavior can be justified by pretending like the OT trio is The Actual Evil, but that’s literally canonically not the case. blaming a grown ass man’s crimes on his mother is bullshit
Great post ! It baffles me again and again how some people are not even able to understand or pay attention to TFA itself! It’s clear from the dialogue between Leia and Han that they became estranged after Ben turned into Kylo! And that this is also when both went back doing what they know best… NOT before!! Yes, it’s possible that sending him to train with Luke, depending on what exactly happened there, might have influenced his turn to the Dark Side but from everything we know Han’s and Leia’s decision to send him to Luke’s (his uncles!!) Jedi school, so that he learns to control his powers was absolutely logical and didn’t involve giving him up or dumping him somewhere! They sent him to his uncle, an expert on this matter! With the best intentions! that they blame themselves is normal! Leia wondering if things had been different if she had remained directly close to him is a valid thought! But let’s be serious: Kylo was 23 when he turned… it’s not a mother’s responsibility to constantly watch over her adult son, so that he doesn’t turn into an evil murderer!
It seems I have been mistaken for a Kylo Ren fan…
I am not. I don’t even know who Kyle Ron is, never heard of him, Finn is the male lead I thought everyone knew that
I literally snicker every time I read Kyle Ron
I’m gonna warn you right now- DO NOT watch this if you literally can’t LOL.
I was in actual tears bc my husband is sleeping and I almost died I couldn’t breathe from trying not to laugh. I’m not kidding.
“What’s all that banging??” Uh.
chewie with a little sling attached to his bandoleer so he could carry baby ben around on the falcon while he did repairs or handled the controls.
han trusting chewie with ben like almost no one else, the same way he trusted chewie with his own life more times than either of them could count.
chewie watching han fall from that catwalk and remembering han’s face the first time he handed chewie the tiny squirming bundle and said, “just don’t drop him, all right?”
chewie pulling his aim to the side at the last second, because he promised.
as certified marvel trash and newly-made star wars trash do you know how many times i’ve read swtfa as “star wars the first avenger”
