His sense of duty was no less than yours, I deem. You wonder what his name is, where he came from, and if he was really evil at heart. What lies or threats led him on this long march from home. If he would not rather have stayed there, in peace. War will make corpses of us all. THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS (2002)
“It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”

Tolkien Edit Meme: One Movie ➤ Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened. So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you were also meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought.

DIEGETIC MUSIC in THE LORD OF THE RINGS
Music is integral to J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendarium, beginning with the Ainulindalë, the divine music that brought the world into being. Throughout his stories, poems and lyrics are sung aloud by his characters, serving as important vehicles for conveying joy, sorrow, remembrance, and history. In Peter Jackson’s film trilogy, the spirit of Tolkien’s songs is preserved through the use of diegetic music—music that originates from the world of the film and is heard and often performed by the characters.
TOLKIEN WEEK 2022 | DAY 3: FAVORITE QUOTE
“And people will say: ‘Let’s hear about Frodo and the Ring!’ And they’ll say: ‘Yes, that’s one of my favourite stories. Frodo was very brave, wasn’t he, dad?’ ‘Yes, my boy, the famousest of the hobbits, and that’s saying a lot.’”
“It’s saying a lot too much,” said Frodo, and he laughed, a long clear laugh from his heart. Such a sound had not been heard in those places since Sauron came to Middle-earth. To Sam suddenly it seemed as if all the stones were listening and the tall rocks leaning over them. But Frodo did not heed them; he laughed again. “Why, Sam,” he said, “to hear you somehow makes me as merry as if the story was already written. But you’ve left out one of the chief characters: Samwise the stouthearted. ‘I want to hear more about Sam, dad. Why didn’t they put in more of his talk, dad? That’s what I like, it makes me laugh. And Frodo wouldn’t have got far without Sam, would he, dad?’”
“Now, Mr. Frodo,” said Sam, “you shouldn’t make fun. I was serious.”
“So was I,” said Frodo, “and so I am.”
A friend of mine got a copy of an old Dutch edition of The Hobbit. I absolutely agree with their assessment that this is the best cover art the book has ever had.
The more I look at it the more I love it. Look at it. Look at Bilbo. He’s just a little guy
The great thing about the Amazon Rings of Power show is that if it’s good: great, fantastic, maybe that will encourage more thoughtful and high quality adaptations of Tolkien’s work; if it’s bad, I live in the comfortable knowledge that the fandom will tear it apart with their teeth like wild dogs.
Let him not vow to walk in the dark, who has not seen the nightfall.
In the black wind the stars shall die, and still on gold here let them lie, till the dark lord lifts up his hand over dead sea and withered land.

I'm sorry but I refuse to leave this in the tags.
Tolkien did know this, he left specific instructions on how to translate his works and what to keep. Which is why Bilbo Baggins from Bag End became Bilbon Sacquet de Cul-de-Sac
It’s a deliberate “screw you” to the tendency in English to see French words as fancier.
The Bagginses of Bag End are our loveable heroes. Their horrible posturing relatives are the Sackville Bagginses. The town’s name is in French: sac (“bag”) + ville (“city”).
It’s all entirely a joke about how stupid the word cul-de-sac is.
That man never did any language thing on purpose.
“The road must be trod, but it will be very hard. And neither strength nor wisdom will carry us far upon it. This quest may be attempted by the weak with as much hope as the strong. Yet it is oft the course of deeds that move the wheels of the world: Small hands do them because they must, while the eyes of the great are elsewhere.”
- Book II, Chapter III: The Ring Goes South
The world is changed. I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air. Much that once was, is lost. For none now live, who remember it.
