why are star wars planets more boring than earth and our solar system like sure we’ve seen desert, snow, diff types of forest, beach, lava, rain, but like…
rainbow mountains (peru)
red soil (canada/PEI)
rings (saturn’s if they were on earth)
bioluminescent waves
northern lights (canada)
salt flats (bolivia, where they filmed crait but did NOTHING COOL WITH IT except red dust?? like??? come ON)
and cool fauna like the touch me not or like, you know, the venus flytrap.. and don’t get me started on BUGS like… we have bugs cooler than sw aliens
BASICALLY like???? come on star wars you had one (1) job where are the cool alien species
I KNOW!! I did a report on filming locations in Star Wars last year and just made a list of places that looked so surreal they could make a convincing other planet. You covered some on my list but if I could just add a couple more:
Tsingy di Bemaraha, Madagascar
Zhangye Danxia, China (similar to the Rainbow Mountains in terms of appearance)
Chocolate Hills, Philippines
Giant’s Causeway, Northern Ireland
So many missed opportunities with cool ass things on Earth, Lucasfilms smh…
Earth is effing amazing!
Quebrada de Humahuaca, Argentina
Lake Retba, Senegal
Tepui, Venezuela
Tianzi Mountains, China
STAR TREK (2009) Dir. JJ Abrams
batman v superman: dawn of justice | scenery
“this is how it all caves in. civilization on the wane, manners out the window… the bell’s already been rung. and they’ve heard it. out in the dark, among the stars.”
Rogue One + gorgeous cinematography
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) + scenery directed by Gareth Edwards, cinematography by Greig Faser.
do u ever just cry because cinematography
“It’s really about trying to tell the story with something else than the screenplay and the dialogue. When you’re dealing with a genre movie and you’re working with types, you need to deal with them and tell the story in a very simplified and very effective manner. And I try to do it with design, gestures and colours. These things are the things that I lay down in every movie and I hope people notice that they’re there.” - Guillermo del Toro
its actually embarrassing how much of an effect good cinematography can have on me like there could just be one particular shot or one camera angle in a movie and i feel like take me to church should be playing in the distance
