For the person asking for a cross stitch of the tardis sign, you could try printing out the paper image of it and using a mixture of simple embroidery stitches lie, running stitch and back stitch to make the letters stitch through the paper and then rip it off when done. If you make sure to vary stitch lengths and keep the stitches neat you can make great writing using just a paper template and some back stitching. Make sure not to use thicker papers like card stock, just ordinary printer paper

Hello! My mother made my son a very lovely and beautiful tardis quilt (from a pattern she created herself from that schematic drawing she found on the internet!). She made the sign after the quilt was all put together, and did it with a transfer and it's not really sticking. I'm thinking I'd love to replace it with a cross stitch of the sign, but I can't find a pattern anywhere. So much awesome DW cross stitch, but none of the sign. I'm wondering if you've run across one at all?

I've personally never seen a pattern of the sign. One of our followers might be willing to help you out, or you could download a program called PCStitch and make the pattern yourself. It's very easy to use.

Round two of Whoflakes (thanks for being so patient y’all)! (x)

This time with some trickier stuff to allure Time Lords with your obvious knowledge of Gallifreyan. Put his name in your window (left)! Or wish him a Merry Christmas (right)! The lines are for folding reference and should vanish after cutting.

Mind that for the upper one you simply cut along the lines, while for the Gallifreyan ones you leave everything that’s black (although I’m sure a reverse one would look cool as well). Also get a good knife. Trust me, it does make a huge difference especially with those detailed ones.

They should all fit on a A4 sheet, but fiddle with your printer’s margin and the size you want to end up with.

Round one: (x)

How I make them: (x)

Have fun and as usual, show me what you do with them!

Light-up TARDIS lapel pin with a color-changing LED!

I’ve been working on this little project on and off for several weeks, and I’m so happy it’s finished! On the surface it’s just a TARDIS badge made of wool felt, like others I’ve made before. But underneath there are LEDs, a battery, and a conductive thread circuit. When the battery holder is snapped shut on the back of the pin, the pin lights up: the lantern on top, the “POLICE public call BOX” sign, and the windows. The windows are lit by an LED that changes color every few seconds (I like to imagine the time rotor is going crazy in there, even if one usually can’t see anything through the windows).

This project took a long time mostly because I had to gather a lot of new materials, including ink-jet printable plastic film, very thick felt (I cut up some coasters I found at Target!), and high-quality iron-on transfers- not to mention the LEDs, sewable battery holders, and conductive thread!
