Me, who actually keeps parrots and knows how stressful a store environment would be for them and how unpredictable feeding and handling them will be for people without lots of hands-on experience: … I HAVE CONCERNS

#why is corporate management like this #animal neglect #we did everything we could #moved them to a quieter area #treated them all for the likeliest problems #the two survivors are still isolated out the back of the store #in case they’re sick too #but by the time you notice a bird is sick #it’s VERY sick #they hide it too well and most of the staff aren’t used to observing birb body language #and I am nowhere near the birbs for most of the day

this groom was over 18 months ago and the owners haven't come back since so I don't feel bad posting shame photos but omfg this is the only time I've ever had to use a 30 blade to get under matting. (10 is usually the shortest we use except for particular areas like paw pads (15), or for specialised breed grooms (40 for show-quality poodle face and feet)).

That is why I photograph from a regular visitor’s perspective, instead of doing a behind-the-scenes documentary. I want the viewer to revisit what they see in zoos, and look beyond the animal.
