Dunno why exactly the Banana Fish anime had to go from the manga’s “Lao is Sing’s half-brother. They have the same mom” to “Lao is Sing’s stepbrother. Lao’s late mother was Sing’s mother’s elder sister” ??????????? Either the subtitles had an aneurism, or…or god, I don’t even know? It wanted to be Spaceballs for some reason?? “Lao is Sing’s father’s brother’s nephew’s cousin’s former roommate.”
