A Quiet Goodbye

But, I just said goodbye to one of the finest human beings I’ve ever met; one who has known me – quite literally – my whole life. She is one of the very few people who could ignore my “no hugs” rule and survive.   It seems strange to write this on Memorial Day, when the one I memorialize did not serve in the military. She did, however, fight battles. Her combat took place on a much different field – the spiritual. She fought for hearts and souls across the world.   If I am wrong – and for her sake, I hope I am – and there is such a place, Eva Gaither is now in Heaven.

  Though it will (probably) never again be seen by human eyes, and any "eyes" that may someday -- far off in the future (or not) -- see it, won't be able to interpret it, my name is inscribed on a disk carried by the InSight probe, which now sits on the surface of Mars. MARS!
