These MAGA fucks won't be happy until we return to a time when only straight, white, male, Christian, land-owners could vote! Women, wake up! They won't stop at taking away your right to make decisions about your own body. They want to take away your right to vote! What will be next?
U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) will lead Senate Republicans in a push to pass a nationwide ban on abortion in a press conference Tuesday, less than two months before the November midterms, according to multiple reports.
Despite wording in an apparent press release calling it a “late term” abortion ban, The Washington Post’s Caroline Kitchener says it is expected to call for a ban on all abortions at or after 15 weeks.
A NATIONWIDE BAN ON ABORTION!
Once again, for those in the back, freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences. You can say anything you want -- short of yelling "fire" in a crowded theater, or inciting violence -- but if an employer feels what you said reflects -- or would reflect -- badly upon them, and might hurt their business, they have the right to fire you; or not re-new your contract; or not hire you in the first place.
“There is no greater impotence in all the world like knowing you are right and that the wave of the world is wrong, yet the wave crashes upon you.” - Norman Mailer (died: 10 November 2007)
I wrote this last year. It came up in my Facebook memories, so I figured I’d share it again. --------------------------------------------------- You're right. Colin Kaepernick shouldn't have remained seated, quietly listening to the anthem. He shouldn't have used the national platform his hard work and good fortune have afforded him to stand up for what he believes. He should have remained a nice, respectful kid who entertains us and doesn't make waves, because history has shown that change is made by those who whisper.
It's called freedom. He wasn't being disruptive. He wasn't standing with his fist in the air. He simply remained seated...and by doing so brought attention to an issue too many in this country are trying to ignore.
Bud of 10 years ago would've flipped out about this. And, in fact, I did write an editorial about a college student who refused to face the flag during the national anthem. I served in the United States Army. But, I've matured. I've realized that this is what freedom means. You don't have to like it, but you should support his right to protest.
And maybe...just maybe...think about what he's saying, and why he felt this was necessary.
