2020
2020 has been a crap-tastic year. I've watched more family, friends, and co-workers than I can count -- seriously, it's several DOZEN at this point -- get sick (one of whom died; some of whom are still dealing with lingering issues) and/or be quarantined after being exposed to COVID-19. I've been quarantined twice (though never became sick -- knock on wood). I've lost time with family and friends. I wasn't able to go to England for my birthday. And, seeing Shakespeare plays on the stage become impossible. But, for all that, there were a few personal bright spots during the year: 1. I told the girl I have a crush on how I feel. (And she didn't run from the room screaming.) So, we'll see how things go in 2021, and -- hopefully -- far beyond. 2. I completed 14 sonnets, a couple short stories, a few micro-fiction pieces, some opinion pieces/rants, and a bunch of haiku. I always feel like I should have/could have done more writing. But, it is what it is. 3. I stepped WAY outside my comfort zone (as if the crush thing wasn't enough) and put my ugly mug on video reading one of my own sonnets; plus made two other videos featuring the work of my favorite writer. And, then, I posted the videos on the Inter-webs. It's madness I tell you! I don't even know who I am anymore! There are probably many other small things I'm forgetting, but these are the three things that stand out in my memory as I sit here at 0400 (since I'm not sleeping or anything). Happy New Year!
