At lunchtime I bought a huge orange— The size of it made us all laugh. I peeled it and shared it with Robert and Dave— They got quarters and I had a half.
And that orange, it made me so happy, As ordinary things often do Just lately. The shopping. A walk in the park. This is peace and contentment. It’s new.

I’d been kicking this idea around for a while and trying to think about how to articulate it. Pretty happy with how it eventually turned out!
Sometimes I think about my reasons for getting tattoos (just for myself, not because they need justification). Adding onto this painting metaphore, I think getting ink is a way for me to put down portable roots. I move a lot and will be doing it again soon, and until I can actually settle down and paint some walls I’ll take visual control of something more accessible, namely myself.

I’m feeling nostalgic today so how about some of my favorite She-Hulk covers (in publication order). She-Hulk was my first ongoing gig and I owe my career to Jeanine Schaefer. She was the first editor to truly trust and believe in me. She gave me my first Marvel assignment and my first ongoing series. Best editor ever!
I learned so much doing She-Hulk and my watercolor skills grew incredibly fast. Forever grateful for the opportunity.
