I have made a discovery
Other people might already have realised this, like, a long time ago, but I want to document this moment anyways:
A couple of weeks ago probably, I was listening to Hamilton, as one does, and noticed during the first song that they say the word “ten” two times in just that song (”the ten dollar founding father” and “when he was ten”), and thought absent-mindedly “hmm, i wonder how many times the say ten in the whole musical”, because, you know, he’s the “ten dollar founding father”, so ten is sort of an iconic number if we’re talking Hamilton right? And I knew already, at the top of my head, that they say ten at least a couple more times throughout the musical, in songs like, you know, Ten Duel Commandments, and other times they’re dueling... Could it be... that they say “ten” an iconic number of times in the musical..? Then I carried on listening to the song and forgot about it all.
Fast forward to today, like a couple of hours ago. I’m listening to Hamilton, again, as one does, and remember suddenly my theory about the tens. I tried googling it, to no avail. I was getting really curious now tho, so I thought “am I really going to count how many times they say “ten” in Hamilton myself?”, and since I didn’t have much else to do at the time, except for the fact that I already should have gone to sleep a while ago, I decided that yes, I am really going to do that. And well, according to my tally (nothing but the songs on the album included), they say “ten” two times in Alexander Hamilton, three in Ten Duel Commandments, one in Yorktown (well, they say "tens of thousands", which I counted since “tens” in that sentence in essence has the same meaning as "ten"), two in Blow Us All Away, and two in The World Was Wide Enough. Which summed up is.. ten times. Idk what to say. We have ten Hamiltons in Hamilton (get it?? because a 10 dollar bill can be called a Hamilton??). My biggest question is, was it intentional? Because if it was... I mean, it’s not the hardest thing to accomplish probably but,, Lin-Manuel Miranda everybody. (If it wasn’t, that’s in a way even cooler tho?) What gets me is probably not just this easter egg, but the fact that there’s so many things in Hamilton to discover I feel like you wouldn’t be able to count them all (lol pun not intended).
tldr (seriously this post is Too long i could’ve just written this, instead i felt the need to tell a whole ass story around it): i just discovered that they say “ten” ten times in Hamilton, and i think that’s cool, and im a bit proud of myself for doing that lol.
