one thing I find interesting about carlos' psyche in this episode is how he tells the therapist that his father was a texas ranger, "like me". I can't help but think there has been a shift away from carlos trying to fill his father's shoes and being a texas ranger like his father, to carlos being the master of his own destiny, to which his father's legacy relates (but isn't determinative of).

i think if i could erase something it would be gabriel's death (which would also get rid of the scene with carlos and the gun). I know some people really liked the arc and absolutely great for them, not trying to take anything away from the show, but I personally would have loved to see carlos and gabriel's complicated relationship problems resolved another way. I think they had so much growing to do together! carlos was starting to be honest with his dad and gabriel was starting to show how much he loved his son and now this! Idk I feel like we were robbed of a potentially really lovely arc.
plus, I get that the scene of unhinged carlos was supposed to be uncomfortable and I get that he was sleep deprived and not in his right mind but idk...it didn't sit right with me. especially considering carlos' profession.
people might not agree with me and that's fine. again, everyone is entitled to their opinion! this is just mine.

The last words Carlos said to Gabriel was that TK was fine with him wearing his cowboy hat to their wedding. The man was elated. Also he didn’t get the chance to write a best men speech 🥲
