anon, you raise a good question. and to counter, i raise you this:

1. surely tk and carlos' neighbours have heard some...loud noises coming from their apartment before 😌

2. have you seen carlos reyes' face? who could be mad at that face? i mean he would be super polite and invite them all anyway but LOOK AT HIS FACE!?!

“You look nice,” Carlos says, walking into the bedroom. He catches TK’s eye in the mirror, appraising him. “Really nice.”

“You think so?” TK does another button up then adjusts the sleeve of his sage green shirt where he’s cuffed it at his bicep.

“Is there someone you’re trying to impress? It’s just the usual crew coming here tonight.” He places a hand on TK’s hip and steps in close.

“Yeah,” TK turns to face him and loops his arms around Carlos’ shoulders. “There is someone I want to impress. There’s this guy. I don’t know if you know him. He’s about six foot tall, built like a Greek god. Better, even. Soulful eyes I could get lost in. Great ass. And his shoulders? God.” He dances his fingers over Carlos’ shoulders. “Word has it he’ll be here tonight.”

Carlos rolls his eyes but he’s smiling. “You think this shirt is gonna impress him?”

TK slides his hands down Carlos’ sweater to his chest. “Hoping I might get lucky.”

Beautiful, serious and studious Carlos Reyes has incredible college grades and a lacklustre love life. Unfortunately for his younger sister, family rules dictate that she can’t bring her boyfriend to their older sister's wedding unless Carlos brings a date.

A plan is hatched, the scene is set and strings are pulled to orchestrate a romance. However, Romeo comes in the form of TK Strand, and TK's never been particularly good at following the script of a love story.

hello friend!!! you know...shamefully, i am very basic when it comes to nut butter, which is to say, I'm a fiend for peanut butter. and my favourite thing to make with it is this bootleg satay-type stir fry with rice noodles that slaps so hard but is definitely not authentic to any particular cuisine 💀

PLEASE share how you use these five other nut butters - i've heard hazelnut butter is a thing and I would actually love to taste that! I will say I am partial to an almond butter, but i've only ever used it for protein ball/bliss ball type things before? are there other uses?

i think this is revealing how bad of a cook i am...(IDEAS WELCOME)

thank you! to be clear - I'm self aware enough to know that it's likely all in my head 🤣 but you know that feeling when you're a bit all out of sorts and you can't find your place? like you don't fit in properly and you can't work out why?? tummy hurt over that a lot.

and also that horrible anxiety of wondering whether you're constantly annoying people? that's my go to for sure. my therapist recently told me I have to work on letting go of other people's perceptions of me but bestie does Not Know how big of a task that is 💀

ANYWAY! thank you so much for your support and the ask and the very sweet message, I honestly appreciate it so much. and I hope you're having a good day!

“You’re staring.”

The words take TK by surprise, mostly because he didn’t even realise he’d been spotted, lurking in the doorway, watching as Carlos’ long fingers re-knot his practically pristine half-Windsor. He probably shouldn’t be surprised. For better or for worse, ever since his father died, Carlos has eyes in the back of his head.

“Is that a crime?” TK asks, leaning against the doorframe as if he’s been casually hanging out in the hallway and not, in fact, following Carlos to the bathroom.

“No,” Carlos replies, adjusting the material as he gently pulls the thicker end through the loop. “But we might cause someone to have a heart attack if they walk in on us doing whatever it is you’re planning to talk me into.”

Intellectually, TK knows it’s not a competition. It’s not. The guitar lessons were a sweet idea Carlos had so that they could do something together. It was supposed to be fun.

It is fun. Every week (shifts allowing), they go to their guitar lesson with their more-handsome-than-expected teacher, Noah, then they have dinner together. It’s like a bonus date night.

TK’s enjoying learning something new with Carlos and watching Carlos light up when he gets things right.

It’s just— Well. Carlos is getting a lot of things right. He almost always nails the new chord or strumming pattern on the first try. Maybe the second. Playing the guitar isn’t a struggle for him. At all.

And TK isn’t struggling per se. He’s just not good at it. He’s not a natural like Noah keeps saying that Carlos is. And that’s fine; it is.
