When that girl tells me how much she thought of me on her wedding day, because she didn’t have to leave her husband behind her (like me).

I don’t need anybody’s pity, and I surely don’t want people to see me as a sad person with a sad life. I’m a badass woman, with a complicated - but very happy and fulfilling - life. My wedding day was the happiest day of my life, I have the best husband on the planet, and I wouldn’t trade any of that for all of the gold in the world! Be happy for me, ‘cause I’m actually quite happy for myself =P Don’t see prison as en end in itself. It can be the beginning of something really beautiful.

When I dress up as Morticia Addams for my Halloween visit and my husband cannot articulate one single sentence in 15 minutes.

Hubby: All of the major stuff you found in my case, you’re amazing… You should be a freaking attorney! I mean it! I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to thank you enough for all of the things you do.

Me: Well, that’s exactly the point...

Hubby: What do you mean?

Me: I don’t want you to ever be able to thank me enough. I want you to owe me forever. This way, when we have a disagreement in the future, I’ll be like “I got your ass out of prison dude, you owe me, now you’d better do what you’re told!”

Hubby: Damn, I knew it!

My reaction when he finally gives me all of the details of how bad it was in his previous prison, right before he left it. He could have been jumped, stabbed, or worse. He’s so positive and funny and happy that I tend to forget sometimes how bad it can be. Fortunately he’s not in that f*cking place anymore.

When that visitor at the prison tells me that her brother has been incarcerated for 43 years, since 1975, for an armed robbery. He currently has 5 life sentences.

America. Fuck yeah.

When I tell my husband that I’d probably be able to send him $100 a month (like his celly’s wife does) by cutting our visits in half.

When someone comes to me after the visit to tell me how cute my husband and I are together.

Yesterday my husband found out that an old neighbor of his was super surprised to find out that he has been behaving this much these last years. His conclusion was: “Man, I guess that French girl really got to him!”

How he makes me feel, when he says that his life is magic because of me.

Finally, when we found out that the visiting at his new prison is absolutely amazing, no more officers on our backs!!
