Ludwig 🥰
Good hunter, have you seen the thread of light?
Just a hair, a fleeting thing, yet I clung to it, steeped as I was in the stench of blood and beasts.
I never wanted to know, what it really was. Really, I didn't.
Have you seen the light?
This was my first bloodborne comic.
Ludwig the Holy Blade
Work in progress on Ludwig
Guiding Moonlight Though the darkness is oppressive ‘Neath the moon I feel no fear Through the shadows I will cleave And a path, for Yharnam, clear Though the hunt is harrowing Though the night may never end The Moonlight is my guide and guard My mentor and my friend Why has my light forsaken me? The dark consumes my soul Within the endless nightmare By madness, swallowed whole Lost beyond the realm of thought Lost to the dead of night Lost beyond the reach of day Lost without my light Moonlight, break these shackles Reclaim me, if you can So that I may fall, honor restored Not a beast, but as a man
op holy shit this is really good

“The Holy Moonlight Sword is synonymous with Ludwig, the Holy Blade, but few have ever set eyes on the great blade…” -Weapon Description
A small comic of Ludwig finding his sword, featuring some Tomb Prospectors having a pretty bad day at work…
Young Ludwig met the Holy Moonlight Sword for the first time.
Ludwig and the Curing of the Church by Zhaoyu Ma
Tell me, Good Hunter of the Church, have you seen the Light? Are my Church Hunters the honorable spartans I hoped they would be?
I’m bringing this back again because I really love this piece and Ludwig so much that I have to talk about the tragedy exemplified by this art. Ludwig’s story is of a man who did his utmost in the face of monstrosity to provide a means of fighting back and showing others how. He formed the first openly armed force to crush the beast plague while others fought from the shadows, he had so much faith in what he was doing and what he was following, in the Light of the Moonlight sword, in his humanity being lost for something important. Where all others who become beasts are lost forever, he alone is able to retain his human soul from the brink, regaining his sense and self. Even mechanically he becomes immune to extra damages that afflict beasts in his boss fight because he is human once more.
But his tragedy is that even as human as he is, Ludwig is surrounded by the inhumane. The Church Hunters he hoped would take up his examples just became monsters, illustrating the fundamental corruption of the healing church. In this artwork, Ludwig is the only one with a human face exposed while the others are gaunt, bloodless, their faces the inhuman eyeless/black eyed gaze of pthumerians, exhibiting a fundamental wrongness.
Ludwig’s appearance is also the only one with a hint of color, while everything else is grey and muted around him, even the golden ardeo of the executioner behind containing no hint of radiance. Alas, even poor Ludwig’s color is fading, as he follows the one hunter ahead of him, their face totally obscured but darker than all the rest.
