sorry gotta talk about power dynamics for a second cause like, obviously belle has so much structural power over jack and the show does not shy away from that aspect of her and the ways it hurts jack and the distrust that it seeds between them, but at the same time jack has soo much emotional power over her. he's her teacher. he acts as her doctor. she cares very deeply what he thinks of her. she risks being alone with him time and time again and is more emotionally available than he is from the beginning. like what's even the fun of a fictional relationship without a complex power dynamic and they have 14

After Belle recovers she follows her mother around constantly arguing that now she MUST marry Jack because they've slept together and otherwise her honour would be BESMIRCHED and she would be a LOOSE WOMAN and her mother can't execute him anymore because he saved Belle's life so finally she's like ok fine I see no other option.
