This vid has completely obliterated me just as much as the show did, ending up in tears late in the evening.
It was impactful, relatable, and SO understanding of the core themes of the show- I am SO glad to have watched this 💜,but also heed the warnings.
It really touched on some heavy subjects, but the analysis is so, so good and relevant, and incredibly profound.

A What If idea-
Just a slight ep 5 canon-divergence but somewhat canon-compliant in the end.
What if... Riley interacted with someone else before going to Erin's.
(Mostly just wanted to have more Sheriff and his son's scenes)
(With an added bonus of me reimagining Erin Greene in Van Helsing's 2004 outfit as she shot Bev Keane to death.)

I can’t quite articulate it yet, but there is something so incredibly heartbreaking about Erin’s final defiant actions against the angel.
she has that moment with Riley earlier on in the story where she tells him about her mother, and how they owned birds and had to clip their wings, and how her mother said that her own wings were clipped when Erin was born. a fucked up thing to say to a seven-year-old. damage done.
and then Erin spends some of her last few minutes alive ripping away at the angel’s wings, clipping them, in a sense, making it so the thing can’t fly away and cause more death and trauma elsewhere. this time, more damage prevented.
the part I can’t put my finger on is what that meant for Erin. I know it means something for her story - the way she was brought back home, the last place she wanted to return to, for the sake of her unborn child and its future. she sort of clips her own wings for the potential child’s sake, although she also recognizes that pregnancy saved her life. and when she’s clipping the angel’s wings, she’s sacrificing herself - it’s too distracted by drinking her blood to fight her off and protect itself.
and the virus of the angel prematurely ended Erin’s pregnancy, took her Littlefoot away from her. her own happiness in the child she never got to have - the opposite of what her mother wanted. a child Erin wouldn’t have resented in the same way, not at all. the virus takes that happiness away and Erin in turn takes the virus’s ability to spread and “procreate” away.
it’s circular and sacrificial and vengeful and defiant. and sad. really sad.
there’s layers and layers there, and I’m still unraveling them.

I can’t decide if Erin’s dying soliloquy was incredibly profound or profoundly nonsense.
Thats the point isn't it? It sounded like the words of a dying person and it shows 😭👌
