It looks like you are willing to assist with CQL translation things. Perhaps you could help me out? For fic purposes, I wanted to include a sixth sect including its name and location. I looked on MDZS and did not see that the sect (Xue) had one listed already. The other sects (Yunmeng, Gusu, etc) don't seem to have translations, so I'm not sure what they actually refer to. If I wanted to come up with a name/locale for another sect, what lines should I be looking along?
They’re all places and places don’t really have “translations”! :) I made google maps show me directions and circled them in their sect colors. What was MXTX doing with relative distance in the novel? IDK but it did annoy me A LOT. It wasn’t very accurate. orz
Anyway, the format/formula for the names are all XX + M +氏. where XX is a location (云梦，姑苏， 清河，岐山，兰陵) where M is a last name (江，蓝，聂，温，金) and 氏meaning family/sect. So if you want to go with xue, go with xue and pick a location. Then do location + xue + clan/sect
remember that madam yu is from 眉山 which is further southwest past chongqing (which is in sichuan and probably why JC and WWX can both handle spice so well -- training by YZY’s tastes of home. let me tell you, sichuan people make the best sausages -- spicy, numbing, umami, savory goodness. full disclosure: my family is from a town not too far from 眉山 so i’m super objective about the food. XD) and the family is 眉山虞氏.
also, side note: gusu is currently a district in suzhou but an old name for suzhou. so it might be fun to pick an area on a chinese map and look for tang or song or earlier location names for that place.
