Killing Time pg 3.... illustrated (part 1)
Part 2 coming soon!
so after trolling Facebook marketplace for a day, I found a lady who was selling the first edition of killing time
yes. it is indeed the retracted ‘too gay’ version so in conclusion dreams really do come true
(she told me that she was looking up prices online to sell it for, and she couldn’t understand why this first edition was so desired and rare. I had to just stand there silently dying and going YUP NO IDEA UHHUH)
anyway can we all scream about this please
I expect racy spirk excerpts soon!
brace yourself, I’m only on page 3 and already we’re getting some spock worried about Jim’s sleeping habits and telepathic goodness and Jim unabashedly flirting with Spock
so a while ago, i ordered a copy of ‘killing time’ on amazon, hoping it was the original. it isn’t, but now that i have the original by stumbling upon it second-hand, i can compare the two copies (and it’s very interesting).
Firstly, the two covers are different. the original has raised, golden and shiny lettering, while the second edition has gold but unraised and dull lettering:
First edition:
Second edition:
The actual text isn’t different until page 3. I searched for what specifically they decided to take out, and it’s this little passage about yes, you guessed it, SPOCK’S LOVE FOR JIM’S TUM:
First edition:
[pic ID: the line of importance is, “His eyes seemed to lighten as he studied the casual way Kirk was holding his stomach.”]
Second edition:
[pic ID: previous line is not in this edition]
Essentially, Spock’s eyes lighting up at Jim IS TOO GAY. CUT THAT OUT.
BUT IT GETS BETTER, HERE’S ANOTHER LINE THE SECOND EDITION CUT:
[pic ID: cut line is, “Releasing the exaggerated breath he’d been holding, Kirk grinned, realizing there was no one else who could ease his tension quite so easily”]
!!!!!!!! GAY!!!!!
in conclusion, my friends, that’s just the first few pages. and i am LIVING and want to personally shake Della Van Hise’s hand for sending in a blatant piece of fanfic for Pocket Books to unknowingly publish.
