me, internally: When Impulse admitted to giving Scott Grian’s wither skeleton skull to give to Lizzie because they couldn’t trust a red life Grian with something so powerful and dangerous when it’s already been proven time and time again this season alone that Grian is terribly dangerous and Grian said “I can’t even trust you!” while lagging from on top of the singular cobblestone block outside of the Southlands to right in front of Impulse’s face, his dogs went from barking to growling almost immediately and I can’t tell if that was an accident or on purpose but the fact they were growling when they were previously barking not one second ago after such a hurting reveal is something that can mean so many things at once and yet nothing at all and when Impulse constantly helped Grian get all the skulls that very same session literally a clip apart but they couldn’t find Scott and Pearl’s so Impulse went out of his way for maybe a third of the session to pull another skull into play just so Grian can have all three even though Grian left him to die by Scott’s hands in the destroyed Scottage is either a show of power–to show Grian that he’s worth keeping around, that he’s loyal (and he is. he’s the only Southerner who hasn’t made a secret alliance or tried to betray the others in a way that would result in deaths.) and helpful (being there and a distraction for Grian to steal the skull from Lizzie. sneaking into BEST’s base and showing Grian the first hidden barrel, giving him the idea to dig up the floor and finding the barrel with the skull. following Grian into Scott’s base and trying to cover for him before trying to convince Scott that it’s really all okay.)–or as an apology for tossing away his most prized possession to the people who’re uneasy alliances at best and who view you as cannon fodder at worst, even though Grian showed regret that he could no longer be part of the Southlands (the very kingdom he created, invited them into, grew, brought to life–) and actively tried to ignore the Southerners while red, mainly going after Scott for resources and then revenge for his hound army and Scar for a life to get off of red and to become friends with his people (with Mumbo) again.
