THIS IS URINETOWN
some comments on stuff from the playbill, jumbled assortment of thoughts
can't believe this guy actually willingly posed for a photo and looks happy about it. maybe he's only fine with it cause it's black and white
I am completely and utterly convinced the sychronised dance is just an adam thing and he trained all the exorcists to be backup dancers
- HE REALLY MISSES HIS WIFE LMAOOOO
- he actually performs with the deadly sins??
"owned and ruled by himself, velvette, and I guess vox" HELLO???????
velvette's section in the playbill being formatted like a fucking twitter bio is making me lose my shit
still no sexuality though okay girl keep your secrets
this was probably in the background of like episode 2 or something that I missed but there being an in-universe vox-themed vocal assistant is killing me
nice to see a fuller quality version of this but I WISH it was in colour
I completely missed this in the background too, cool as shit
I know we've known this for a while but it still cracks me up because of both his pathetic display in season 1 and the fandom's subsequent treatment of him LMAO. still though, do wreck some shit in season 2 king
The Met just uploaded their full recording of "Walk On Through"
...no I'm not crying whatsoever 😭
I CAN’T STOP LAUGHING AT MY EMAIL RIGHT NOW
WHOOOOOOO LET THEM DO THIS
Omg wait, this means y'all haven’t seen the cocktober song!!
Hey, I wanna talk about how we do fandom! I've come to realize that I, personally, tend to differ from many others in that I highly prefer to only engage with a text as it's written, so I don't tend to really like fanon/extremely ooc characterizations and I find it hard to get invested in ships that aren't canon. My way of doing fandom isn't better or worse than anyone else's, but I am curious about how much of a minority I'm in! So:
*We've all seen ships of characters not from the same media and stuff like shipping the concept of ennui with the color blue, okay, I'm asking what you, personally, find compelling!
My limits are no inc3st, p3d0phil1a, or canon gay characters with the opposite gender, there are a few that I have headcanons such as sexuality or found family holding me back, but other than that I have the capacity to ship almost anyone, even if they're from different medias (stanchez!!!!)
gavin creel had the most perfect head of hair a man could have. which is the most important thing a man can do.
They've pointedly left Ken Page off the list of tributes though.
Honestly, the more this continues to be a problem with the Broadway League, the more I think we should just ditch the dimming altogether and think of some other way to honor the fallen from now on. Historically, it was a beautiful tradition to have, but nowadays it's caused so much needless drama and heartache. Plus, as Paul Wontorek pointed out, the historical incandescent bulbs of the marquee have been replaced with LED lights and tv screens in an already bright city... so the tradition isn't nearly as visually impactful nowadays anyway.
the news about gavin creel is absolutely devastating. what an incredible human, artist, and performer, gone way too soon.
this is one of those performances that made such a lasting impact on me that i think about it all the time, even though i’ve only seen it through this grainy bootleg. thank you for your gift, gavin 🤍
it is upsetting to learn how fast and sudden gavin creel's death was— a literal 2 months after being diagnosed with sarcoma. while in a different form, this is the same cancer technoblade got and died from last 2022. i suggest that if you can, you could donate to the sarcoma foundation of america who specializes in funding research and raising awareness about sarcoma. sending lots of love and hugs to anyone affected by gavin's loss :-(
In his memory, I've gotta bring this ol' gem to light.
I have just learned that the Broadway League is only planning to partially dim the lights for Adrian Bailey and Gavin Creel.
This seems quite outrageous to me, especially after the Broadway community had to fight for Hinton Battle to get the lights fully dimmed for him less than a year ago.
I hope the Broadway League and the theater owners change their minds soon.
For those who are unaware, it is Broadway tradition to dim the lights and marquees on every Broadway theatre to honor the passing of Broadway legends.
Adrian Bailey, Gavin Creel, and Hinton Battle were all notable Broadway performers.
Adrian Bailey, while not as well-known as Gavin Creel or Hinton Battle, was in 15 Broadway productions including Jelly's Last Jam and The Wild Party, before an accident during The Little Mermaid severely injured him and forced him to retire in 2008. Miraculously, he survived all the way until this year, at the age of 67.
Gavin Creel has been in a swathe of Broadway roles, including lead roles in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Hair, Hello Dolly, and Into the Woods as well as many others. He is one of a select few to have won a Tony, Olivier, and a Grammy Award. He passed from cancer at the age of 48.
Hinton Battle is best known for originating the role of the Scarecrow in The Wiz, and has won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical 3 times, more than anyone else in history. He passed away this year at the age of 67.
Watching Hair and Hair-related clips and just being sad
An irreplaceable artist. I saw him play Claude in central park when I was twelve and it's impossible to put into words how profoundly that show and his performance in it shaped my young mind. he is as vital to the last two decades of broadway history as anybody can be. rest in peace Gavin Creel
Gavin Creel’s death has affected me way more than I thought it would.
From the tributes pouring in everyone remarks on how kind and generous he was to everyone around him. He will be deeply missed within the musical community but, his presence will live on forever.
Gone far too soon 🤍
Thank you, Gavin Creel, for everything you gave to this world. ❤️
