This snake with a clawing foot was found in southwest China by a woman named Duan Qiongxiu. The one-legged snake was 16 inches long and as thick as a little finger. Duan was frightened by it and proceeded to beat it with a shoe before preserving it in a bottle of alcohol. It was later handed over to the Life Sciences Department at China’s West Normal University in Nanchang. Scientists were shocked to see this mysterious snake but notated such a mutation wasn’t impossible, and could occur with a tweak of DNA. (Source)
