America has a weird relationship with cults where they’re terrified of small cults (or organizations they think are cults) but completely normalized massive cults that hurt many more people (eg: LDS Church, Jehovah’s Witnesses, the Amish, Scientology, most Megachurches)

To anybody asking if the Amish are a cult, the answer is yes, very much so.

They’re a high control group that isolate you from society. The cult decides how you dress, how you behave, who you marry and how. They control what you know, blocking all information from the outside world. They control how you feel and what you’re allowed to think with threats of both social and supernatural harm. They’re a cult.

The best method to determine if a group is a cult, in my opinion, is Steven Hassan’s (cult expert and former cult member himself) BITE model.

BITE stands for Behavior Control, Information Control, Thought Control, and Emotional Control.

The more points a group “scores” on the model, the more of a cult it is.

i understand that legacies either didn't want to have to pay the actors to come back or the actors were done with tvdverse and wanted a break but literally the script still could have chosen to include mentions of the mikaelsons visiting hope offscreen on a regular basis because this family loves each other and hope so much, she is an orphaned child, and with this family's emphasis on loyalty there's no way someone wouldn't have been consistently checking on her. i can understand maybe kol and davina don't have that same level of attachment, but freya and keelin, rebekah, MARCEL HER LITERAL BROTHER WHO HAS A PROTECTIVE INSTINCT FOR TEEN GIRLS, all would have been consistently staying in hope's life and keeping up with her. i watched legacies before i watched the originals and legitimately thought hope didn't have any extended family/was completely alone but then i watched TO and was extremely surprised that the mikaelsons didn't all bombard hope with affection/harass her

My favorite part of the PJO TV series casting announcements is that there's always a tweet of the new actor and Walker Scobell as Percy saying "their beef is about to be insane". No matter what. Ares actor? Beef is gonna be insane. Hades and Zeus actors? Beef is gonna be insane. Thalia? Beef is gonna be insane/he's gonna make fun of her accent and she'll electrocute him. Now, Athena?
