Randomly Pixellated

@vlkphoto / vlkphoto.tumblr.com

Like most people, I have taken thousands of pics over the years. And just like most people even I have barely looked at them myself. This is an effort to pare them down to a small subset of interesting ones. So I will put up one a day until I run out of pics, or patience, or Tumblr. ©CC-BY-SA

Ellora Cave 11 Do Taal – Figures on walls .. (2 / 2) [4 / 4]

Small figures carved into the walls on the top floor. Ellora, MH.

Cave 11 is usually overlooked after the splendor of Cave 10, and because it looks just like any of your modern day brutalist dormitories. It is called Do Taal (two floors) because the ground floor had been buried and was only excavated in 1876.

Some dummkopf kilroy had scratched his (well yeah, ya think it could possibly even be a woman?) initials on the rock. Perhaps because it was recent, it had high albedo and stood out bright white. It has been removed with Pixelmator, but one good thing it did was balance the exposure to give a better idea of just how much light there was[n't]. Dim, barely enough to make out anything. But the [handheld] camera got the detail, and even the subtle colorations, magnificently.

To perceive depth, cross eyes and superpose left image viewed with right eye over right image viewed with left eye. The brain will do the rest.
