I think it’s valid to criticize academia as a hierarchical institution with a near monopoly on specialized knowledge. It’s not valid to say reading books or using polysyllabic words is bad.

I don't expect anyone to watch this whole video, but I just wanted to put up something from Stephen Krashen. He also has a book titled the Power of Reading which is concise and expands upon several of the issues he's referencing here.

Bottom line PLEASE ENCOURAGE READING! Freaking throw as many books as you can at kids and most importantly let them choose what to read!

Today one of my math teachers said,

"Math majors write the best angst because that's all math is."

And suddenly I had to deal with the fact that I and the other 32 math majors in the class were all feeling very called out, while realizing that we all sit around writing when we should be doing math...

Who knew! Apparently him somehow?

He then picked up his mug labeled, "student tears" and said, "You're welcome."

So here's my roommate's and my current theory on the new E-ticket "Quinjet" attraction coming to California Adventure's Avengers Campus.

The newly released concept art looks like this:

You'll notice that while they're calling it a "Quinjet" currently it looks like the guests are all strapped into jetpacks.

So here's the thing Disneyworld's Animal Kingdom already has an attraction that allows guests to individually control their flight path. On the Flight of Passage Avatar ride you're each in a seat like this:

So basically we're guessing everyone is going to get to VR fly around on their own little Quin-jetpack!

the intricate ritual of fighting back to back against an enemy horde w someone

the intimacy of knowing your partner’s moves and combat style so well that you adapt your own to complement it so that you form a more effective team in battle

the romanticism of passionately kissing your battle partner when the fighting is over while you’re both still covered in dirt and gore and surrounded by smoking rubble and the corpses of your enemies

And quite possibly honey.

What if they did tua like Marvel where every sibling got a movie first except the movies just about how much they fucked up their own lives

I'd be so down.

Luther would be his life alone with Reginald trying his best to be a hero and hold everything together. Then disaster strikes he nearly gets killed and awakes to his body being completely altered. The few loyal fans he had, because let's face it he had no real friends, are repulsed and confused. It ends with him being given his new very important mission. The moon.

Diego is how he ended up dropping out of the police academy. His struggle with the other cadets ostracizing him, because ooh he was a super hero. Him pushing through all that, but at the end of the day he sees how police are 'supposed' to treat people and it goes against how he wants to help people. So, he eventually walks away.

Allison is about dealing with Hollywood and the sort of temptation her powers represent. Her actress friends are put in situations similar to Sally from HBO's Barry and we see her trying to use her powers for 'good' but it always backfires and ends up making things worse for herself, friends or family.

Klaus is just trying to survive. It's life with drugs and PTSD on the streets. We actually see him reach out to each of his family members at one time or another and watch them shrug Klaus off. It leads him down darker and darker paths until eventually Ben brakes through to him and you Klaus realizes he was never actually alone and he's going to try to do better for Ben.

5 in the commission. Turns out he had a partner he never talks about. Similar to how Hazel and Cha-Cha are assigned together. They both agreed to help one another to get home. He helped them, but it went south after that...

Ben's is of course the story of how he died, but it continues on after as he watches his family fall apart.

Vanya is the story of how she got her book published. It wasn't easy or exactly legal at parts.
