Every June, the LGBTQ+ community and its allies commemorate the Stonewall Riots of 1969 with Pride events all over the world. These celebrations remember the profound work of LGBTQ+ activists in the march towards civil rights and the pursuit of equality, and they look ahead to a world where love is love. Pride is a dream too big to bear alone.
YOI Pride Week is a theme week dedicated to celebrating the tradition of Pride. We invite you to reflect, remember, and celebrate with us by creating fanwork featuring the popular anime Yuri!!! On Ice which honors the LGBTQ+ experience: be it from a journey of self-discovery, and ‘coming out’, to the joy that can come from belonging within a community, to the relief and exultation of owning our own voices, to share your interpretation, adaptation, or re-imagined edition of the show in a way that expresses Pride.

Yuri!!! on Ice Pride Week will run from June 24th - 30th, 2018.
For Pride Week, we have chosen to shape our prompts around the rainbow flag, one of the most recognizable symbols for the LGBTQ+ community. Our alternate prompts for each day pay homage to Gilbert Baker, the flag’s original designer, who envisioned each colour carrying its own special meaning which reflected the many facets of the community he loved.
Day 1, June 24, 2018: Revelations
Revelations - coming out, experiencing a realization, arriving at an understanding. The lightbulb moment; the conversations which change everything.

Day 2, June 25, 2018: Overcoming
Overcoming - finding the way through challenges and obstacles, overcoming resistance.

Yes - saying yes: to yourself, to others; yes to consent, yes to marriage equality; yes to civil rights. Yes to positivity, light, joy, freedom, and acceptance.

Grace - a free day; go forth with pride, and do and be what you will.

Pride - the pride parade, pride in yourself, pride in others. The journey down the parade route or the journey within your own heart. Standing up, standing out, standing proud.
