I understand why the fandom headcanons Viktor as more submissive/helpless/emotional out of the two and that of course has its appeal but

I’m in the middle of rewatching arc 1 (again) and Viktor is so much more assertive and controlled there? Much more than Jayce; Jayce is nothing but an emotional mess, especially during his trail, it’s Viktor who approaches him with a clear plan in mind, keeps himself and his reactions in check and seems to be the one grounding/supporting Jayce (“Am I interrupting?” uhhggghhh and he kept a straight face despite it all, even decided to jokingly mock Jayce, someone who was just about to jump to his death, “a little bit egotistical, don’t you think?” Like cmon, the control it required). He’s set on his goals, sees the potential in Jayce and decides to take the risk and work with him. Despite hextech being Jayce’s original idea, it seems like Viktor is the one who leads them both and inspires Jayce into action (which hurts even more in the following episodes, and he’s being pushed into the shadows, and Jayce remains as the poster boy despite his lack of decisiveness).

Of course, later on, as he gets more and more invested in hextech, his reactions get a bit more intense and all, which is again, understandable. But the point of this post is - Viktor is so much more capable and mature than the fandom tends to portray him. And it’s such a good look on him, too.

THIS! ⬆️

Me: haha, I wonder why it is that Silco fans also tend to really love Viktor? Is it just gaunt skinny man appreciation? hehe

Silco & Viktor: [Display parallel themes, such as being adversely affected by exposure to the pollution/toxins in Zaun. Both share revolutionary ideas that will make lives of Zaunites better. Both have a figure in their lives that they see as being like a brother to them, who shares their vision, but with whom they clash with on how to achieve that vision. Both are the weaker half of their fraternal duo, favouring more intellectual/methodical approaches. Both are driven by good motives, but are willing to go to any length to achieve them. The fact that we have seen all of Silco's plot play out, yet have not seen all of Viktor's implies that we may be able to extrapolate from what we've witnessed in Silco's arc to complete the rest of Viktor's arc. This means that there may still be fraternal betrayal, symbolic death and rebirth, and moral decay in Viktor's future. Tragically repeating a known cycle, fulfilling a destiny created by the severe inequality imposed on Zaun and all it's inhabitants]

Me: Oh.
