That video of Vivek Ramaswamy giving that speech about Israel at the Republican Jewish Coalition is soooo interesting to me but specifically the part he says about “abandoning the myth of a two state solution” because he’s right, it is a myth but also he’s literally saying the quiet part out loud. When Palestinians outright reject the two state solution, we’re blamed for being the obstacle to peace rather than recognising Israel has no intention of ever pursuing a 2ss. Obviously the intention/reasons behind when Palestinians say it vs when someone like Ramaswamy says it is different

But this is also a great example in the difference between Repubs and Dems. While Dems will still be unwavering in their support for Israel, they’ll talk about pursuing a path towards a two state solution whilst allowing Israel to prolong its occupation and prevent any establishment of a Palestinian state. Republicans on the other hand save us all the theatrics and talk about peace and straight up say they support Israel’s policies of doing whatever it wants

everyone is always like "jason kills people who have premarital sex because the movies support conservative values" or "jason kills people who have premarital sex because the movies are criticizing conservative values"

why is it never "why do people keep having sex near the cursed lake with the undead guy" or "how can we be so sure that he only targets couples having premarital sex and not just sex in general, what if it's just sampling bias"

what if we're all looking at it in the wrong way.

what if it's not that jason specifically targets people who have sex but rather that people nearby jason can't help to have sex because his presence makes them horny. because of his pheromones.

the funniest part of the jason x sex scene post is actually watching jason x and finding out that the sex scene was plot relevant because jason revives at the very same time they were having sex in the room next door and it's implied that jason could sense them having sex while he was cryogenically frozen and it pissed him so much (because he hates sex) that it revived him. if you removed it you would make the movie less funny.

hating sex was his sole characterization and character motivation in the movie and they dont even want him have that. free him.

yeah it sure is a good idea to keep media completely sexless and make porn the only room for overt sexuality. I'm sure that'll encourage a society with healthy ideas on sex.

"sex scenes have no narrative purpose" is such a funny take on so many levels. people will really believe that the whole human experience is valuable to portray artistically except sex, which of course has never held emotional weight or significance for anybody

"what's the purpose of sex scenes in media??" well you see sometimes people have sex. sometimes it can be important even

yeah ok but i dont wanna watch straight sex scene number 1231234837582 in the middle of some movie thats clearly not fucking high art or anything, like please, tell me how the sex scene made jason X a deeper movie ill wait

you genuinely think that "the sex scene in Jason X, the movie about jason from Friday the 13th killing people in space, is bad" is a rebuttal to this point? like genuinely? genuinely? like you think that's the kind of sex scene I was talking about in the original post? you think when I'm talking about the artistic merit of sex scenes in movies you think I'm talking about the bit with the dominatrix in Jason X (2001) dir. James Isaac, the movie where Jason from Friday the 13th gets put in cryosleep and wakes up in the future on a spaceship where he starts killing people in outer space? you genuinely think this is the kind of movie and scene I'm referring to when I'm arguing for the potential artistic value of a type of scene? Jason X? Jason X? the one with Jason on a spaceship? you think that "well Jason X, the movie about Jason on a spaceship killing people in space, is bad" is a rebuttal to my point? Jason X? Jason X? as a jewish man i really just let the zionist lies du jour roll off of me and mind my business most of the time but dude…. calling these hateful pieces of suit getting their asses beat in amsterdam “a pogrom” is the funniest shit i have ever heard in my life. A POGROM????????? the “global rise in antisemitism” might be real but it’s happening because you suckers will call people rightfully getting their asses beat “antisemitism”. jesus fucking christ. loving all the cutesy fandom zios getting added to my blocklist rn. rot in hell b’ezrat hashem palestine will outlive you

EXACTLY!!

Hundreds of zionist hooligans were filmed chanting “there are no schools in Gaza because all the children are dead” and “kill the Arabs”, beating up locals, tearing down Palestinian flags from private residences, and generally being a terrorizing presence.

Meanwhile, my ancestors fled pogroms where people were burned in their fucking houses and synagogues.

To zionists, accountability = antisemitism. You act like Nazis, be prepared to be treated accordingly.

Pushing this line of propaganda is so funny when there are numerous hebrew speakers who can attest about the racist chants of yesterday

"israeli media once again portrays as cute chihuahua puppies" is sending me

November 6 / 7, 2024 - Far-right Israeli hooligans of Maccabi Tel Aviv came to Amsterdam for a match against Ajax, and went around singing their fascist songs about killing arabs and destroying palestine, attacking random people's houses, ripping down and burning palestinian flags and attacking random people for looking like palestine supporters, feeling untouchable. After an evening of this, with Amsterdam police just letting it happen, people had had enough and mostly Moroccan dutch people organised to hunt down Maccabi hooligans throughout the city. One of the Maccabi hooligans jumped in the canal to escape a beating. Passports were confiscated showing that several of the hooligans were IDF soldiers.

The Israeli government has responded by calling this a pogrom and sending two planes to Amsterdam, presumably to bomb a hospital or school in retaliation.

during several of the beatings the israeli hooligans were told "this is for the children of Palestine!". The Maccabi fans were singing songs about how there are no schools left in Gaza earlier in the day.

For Turkey, while the importance of the territorial question remained constant, the significance of the moral stigma of 1915 was on the increase, not least because of these comparisons of the Armenian genocide with the Holocaust. The morality factor would increase yet further as the 1960s passed and, on the international scene, the social protest and civil rights movements of the second half of the decade promoted a new culture of awareness of state criminality and accountability. All of this accounts forthe single-minded determination of Turkey’s politicians up to the present to combat the application of the label ‘genocide’ to the Armenian experience, and their preparedness to tolerate even American presidents talking of atrocities and massacres in 1915 as long as the magic word is avoided. ‘Genocide’, after all, implies a level of intent, extent, and direction that ‘massacres’ and ‘atrocities’ do not. A strand of the strategy of rejection has been to focus on differences real and imagined between the Armenian tragedy and the supposedly more ‘authentic’ Jewish genocide. Turkish diplomats have long been at pains to stress their condemnation of the Holocaust, and its ‘unique’ nature, while reiterating the ‘controversial’, ‘civil war’ circumstances of the Armenian deportations. For good measure, if utterly irrelevantly, except in so far as it is calculated to drive a wedge between pro-Israeli and pro-Armenian lobbies, Turkish diplomats and historians have also emphasized Turkey’s relatively good historical relationship with its Jews. One of the more bizarre manoeuvres in this direction was penned in 1993 by Stanford Shaw, who devoted a volume to ‘proving’ Turkey’s role in rescuing Jews during the Holocaust. Not only did Shaw play down uncomfortable evidence undermining his supposed main thesis, but, in the most obvious subtext of the book, he sought to portray Armenians and Greeks as pro-Nazi, in stark contrast to the humanitarianism of the Turkish Republic. The most effective weapon at Turkey’s disposal nevertheless remained its political leverage. This enabled it to quash the Armenian appeals of the late 1960s to the UN and the US government for the recognition of the genocide and the punishment of its perpetrators. In March 1974 the UN Sub-Commission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities agreed, on the objection of the Turkish representative, effectively seconded by his US counterpart, to remove mention of the Armenian case from its report on genocide. The State Department itself helped to scupper a congressional proposal to make 24 April 1975 a ‘National Day of Remembrance of Man’s Inhumanity to Man’ with particular reference to the events of 1915–16.

The indictment of New York City Mayor Eric Adams was unsealed today in a sweeping federal corruption probe involving foreign government influence, including pressure from Turkey.

Excerpt of the Federal Indictment: “On April 21, 2022, the Turkish Official messaged the Adams Staffer, noting that Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day was approaching, and repeatedly asked the Adams Staffer for assurances that ADAMS would not make any statement about the Armenian Genocide. The Adams Staffer confirmed that ADAMS would not make a statement about the Armenian Genocide. ADAMS did not make such a statement.”
