WIP Wednesday Game - UPDATE

PLEASE READ:

This is the second to last completely feral WIP Wednesday Game. We now have a community to play in, where folks can post their weekly games (or post separately and reblog into the community). I will no longer be pinging folks after the next game, you can join the community and will receive notifications there. Please read the rules before posting, as they're SLIGHTLY different to work within a community.

As of today, member join requests still have not been coded into communities, so membership is by invite only. Please send me an ASK if you want to join- DO NOT REPLY TO THIS. I may or may not see a reply/mention/etc, or I may see it and forget it exists 5 seconds later. Asks I will see, and only delete once I have send the invite, so your request will not be lost.

It’s WIP Wednesday, time for a little accountability, sharing your work, and getting a kick in the pants.

Here’s how it works:

  • In a reblog of this post (so people can find you in the notes) or new thread (w/ rules attached) if you want to play on your own, post up to five (5) filenames of your WIPs; not titles, file names.
  • Post a snippet from one of them. Snippet must be words you wrote in the last 7 days. We’re posting progress here. If you haven’t made any, go make some and come back to play!
  • After you’ve posted, people can send you an ask with one of your file names. You must then write 3 sentences in that file. If the filename is one you can't share from (for example, an event or gift fic), write 3 sentences on it anyway, and then 3 more on another to share.
  • That’s it! You can invite others to join in, or just post. I’ll be searching the reblogs to find people to send asks to!

This week's snippet is from Tunnels of Love:

It was big. That was a stupid thing to think, but it was a struggle to get beyond the sheer size of it. It was at least twice his height. Shad wasn't tall, but the Carriage fully dwarfed him. He thought even the lanky Rider would be dwarfed by it.

Trying to seem both confident and casual - and like he wasn’t desperately reminding himself that the Rider explicitly told him to come through when he was ready - Shad crept through the doorway. He didn’t immediately see the Rider, distracted by his first view of the Carriage. Whatever he had imagined, it wasn’t this.

Finally, he stepped back into his slippers. There had been some talk of alternative footwear, but in the end, no one had any idea how else slippers might be made. He would just have to hope they would be enough for the ride.

Tunnels of Love - warren verse

The clothes were unfamiliar in his hands. His Clan - his old Clan - had a very short cold season, one that could be weathered with an extra layer and a scarf. His new Clan...well, he'd had something more robust made in anticipation of this journey. The shape was rough but hopefully the garment would be serviceable.

This week's snippet is a bit from Tunnels of Love - warren verse:

Shad didn't waste any time. Keeping the Rider waiting would be rude. The journey was not a short one and Shad wanted to remain in his good graces as long as possible. The carriage wouldn't allow any kind of conversation while they traveled between waystations, so Shad only had to keep Destry liking him for a little at a time. Of course, it also meant that if he fumbled something, he had only a few chances to repair his image. Whatever the Rider might have told him, he knew he needed to make a good impression on his new Clan and the Rider's opinion of him would certainly factor into that.

"So don't worry about it too much, yeah? No matter what, you'll make a good impression because they want you to. Alright?" 
(S) starts nodding, gaining confidence. "Very well. My name is Shad and yes, that is what I would like you to call me." His stomach squirms as he says it, nerves or excitement or maybe both.
With a lopsided smile, Des holds out a hand. " Well met, Shad." (S) clasps his hand, letting Des control the shake lest he lose what ground he's gained by fumbling a handshake. Their hands drop as Des uses his now-free hand to start chivvying (S) along. "We should be on our way now. The further west we head, the colder it'll get."
