moves so smooth she must be a villain

The most difficult part of healing Jexper was the number of times he’d already done it. Any body with powers was liable to subconsciously fight the healing. Any body that had been healed dozens of times was in danger of becoming resistant to any healing at all.

"You are easily distracted, though." Smugly, he nodded down at Jexper’s arm. The most difficult part of healing some people was working around their powers, or sometimes directly against them.

Eventually, Jexper managed to sputter out, "I'm not a fucking simpleton." Wildon snorted. "No, you're not."

Finally, Jexper managed to get enough of a handle on his ire to choke something out. It wasn't anything intelligible, but was certainly an attempt. Wildon swallowed another laugh.

Maybe he was just fighting the urge to bite Wildon. Either way, he couldn't believe he'd never tried this tact before. It was proving to be one of his favorites.

Jexper's lip pulled back, lost somewhere between bared teeth and a rictus grin. Wildon watched in some fascination as a vein in his forehead started pulsing, and he had to bite back a laugh at the way Jexper's jaw kept clenching and unclenching. He wondered if Jexper was trying to figure out what to say.

Saccharine sweet, he cooed at the disgusted look on Jexper's face. "Really, you should have said something. I've been setting such unrealistic expectations for you, poor thing."

Wildon made a faux-considering noise. "Actually, maybe this is the best you're capable of. Maybe I've been overestimating you all these years."

Jexper snorted out a wordless noise, part offense and part derision.  Wildon raised a single brow. "Do you really want to pretend this is the best you could do?"

"Small miracle there. You should certainly be thanking someone tonight. Serpents know it wasn’t because you managed to take care.”

“Second degree, at least.” He turned the arm slowly, stopping when Jexper hissed out a breath. “Nothing beyond second though.”

“It all hurts. May as well start here.” Wildon sighed to himself, leaning in to peer closely.

Instead, he tossed the shears on the counter and pulled down the glasses that were perched on his head. “Where’s the worst of it?” With a half-assed shrug, Jexper held his right arm out.

Jexper was a frequent visitor to his practice and he hadn’t always been clothed. There was no putting that particular horse back in the barn. He didn’t bother pointing that out to Jexper.

He continued mumbling as his shears made quick work of Jexper's shirt, barely pausing before turning them to what remained of his trousers. 

As Wildon snipped through the last threads, Jexper took a preemptive step back. "You just leave my unmentionables alone, alright?"

"You sure did a number on yourself, didn't you?" Wildon mumbled. Jexper didn't bother responding that time. Every medical exam eventually turned into Wildon talking to himself.

Despite his tone, Wildon's touch was careful as he pulled the collar of Jexper's shirt out far enough to slip one of the shears' blades in. He glided down one arm to the mutilated end of the sleeve, somewhere in the vicinity of Jexper's elbow. The sleeve fell away, revealing scorch marks up to the shoulder.
