Do you have Vijinx playlist??

I've gotten two asks about this (maybe by the same person? I'm sorry I take so long to respond lol).

I don't have a playlist made but I do have a list of ViJinx/Jinx songs

  1. "Anchor" by Skillet
  2. "If I Surrender" & "Would Anyone Care" by Citizen Soldier (perfect Jinx songs & they break my heart)
  3. "Far From Home" by Sam Tinnesz (the fact it talks about ravens makes it that much more perfect)
  4. "Before You Go" by Lewis Capaldi
  5. "Look At Us Now" by Celine (ViJinx break-up song lol. I imagine a bit of a modern AU w/ this one)
  6. "Control" by Zoe Wees
  7. "Rescue" by Lauren Daigle

Hope you find something good/new from my list :)

I love reading your posts about Jinx and Vi's relationship (also them with other people) so much.

Thanks anon. I have many Vi & Jinx thoughts that I'd love to share but always forget to do so. These asks give me reason to do it. So, if anyone has any other show &/or ViJinx comments/questions/thoughts they'd like to share with me please do, I'd love to read them.

OMG. You saw the Old Guard. Are you on board with Andy and Quynh, and drowning in angst?

Yes. The whole movie I kept repeating that Andy needed to go search for her. I was like, with all the tech in present time and they won't even try again? But then we get the cliffhanger and I was so happy but obviously there will be a LOT of angst, anger, and fighting. I really want the sequel.

And I'm not usually into multishiping buuuut I can also get behind Andy and Nile. Not right away, maybe after a couple of years, Nile has gained more experience and is unofficially the co-captain of the team (don't think of Andy getting older as Nile stays young amd that's why Andy keeps rejecting Nile :'( ). I could even see a subtle love triangle where Andy is feeling guilty about Quynh so whenever Quunh attacks the group (cause ofc she's gonna be a little villainous and crazy after 500 years underwater but she still loves Andy and it just makes it all worse) Andy keeps making mistakes, too distracted and hurt, and Nile becomes very protective of Andy. She's seen Andy carrying that guilt first hand and she's not gonna let anyone make her feel bad (neither will the other 3), not even Quynh herself.

I love the possibilities that open up with Quynh being alive. I want to see what she's feeling, and how she will act towards Andy. I also want to see how Andy feels now that she's mortal, is she fine or is she struggling with facing her mortality now. How are the others dealing with it? Cause they've lived so long without having to worry about dying as directly as they will now with Andy.

Let’s be honest, the whole “they’re sisters, it’s incest” argument is getting stale at this point. I don’t think the other shippers even believe it anymore, it’s just the only argument they have left. You know what I think? I think they’re jealous cause Kalex is really starting to get on the rise.

What’s amusing is that each season we get some type of "more than sisters” vibe from the show. Last season we had Kara saying Alex was her home, her heart, and by the end, Kara had started literally saying Alex was more than a sister. This season we had Kara meet a non-sister Alex who was then teased about having a crush on Kara, and now Kara’s non-sister relationship with our Alex is also being tested (and maybe even their sisterly relationship). We have evil!Superman and real Superman insinuating (or outright telling us) that Kara and Alex are pretty much meant to be in each other’s lives no matter the universe, which means they’re soul-mates. And this is the first time something from a crossover has been referenced and had an impact on the season arc of the show.

I wish Alura had stuck around for season 4. It would have been interesting to see how/if Kara having her mom back would have affected her relationship with the Danvers family and Alex.

Ok, are more kalex shippers coming out of the woodwork, or am I hallucinating/being too hopeful?

Idk but that would be great.

That is definitely a good point about Lena. And it’s sad, cause I loved her during season 2. But now I just want her to go. I mean for crying out loud, Mon-El has become a more interesting character than her in my opinion.

Honestly, Lena isn’t the only character kind of lost. It’s like the writers saw the criticism of s2 of Kara not being the lead of her show and just decided to give the other characters almost no development lol. James’ only story is dating Lena, Winn has nothing so far, J’onn had one episode where he found his father and since then has been very sidelined, Mon-El has been fixing his ship and now conflicted about his feelings (I’m not bothered with him staying in the background though XD), and the Legion of Superheroes are here just cause they were in the same ship as Mon-El lol (I hope whatever Brainiac and Imra were hiding is a good story and that ties into the main arc otherwise what even was the point of them being here? to bring back Mon-El I guess, in which case so lame). Even Alex has had very little, it’s been breaking up with Maggie and now missing her, that’s it. Okay she also has tried getting Kara to accept her humanity again, but that hasn’t been enough of a focus as it should be. Kara had some good arc at the beginning but it looks like she already found her humanity so now all that’s left is for her to get over you know who (which I’m praying she does but expecting she wont). It’s not like I expect amazingly intricate stories for all the characters, every season, but there’s got to be more they can give them than the same old plots or just putting them in a scene to deliver exposition.

The stand out character of the season is Sam (and the other Worldkillers), she’s the only one with good, steady, character development. And fortunately she hasn’t hogged up all of Kara’s screen-time and development cause then it’d be as bad as when Mon-El did it in s2.

Season 3 is a definite improvement on s2 imo, but still has issues.

You know, and I know I would get a LOT of hate for saying this. But to me, Kara and Lena almost seem more like sisters than Kara and Alex. (Kara and Alex being more, obviously) What do you think?

Sisters not so much imo (Kara called her a sister but I think that was put in to further whatever plot they have planned with the Kara/Lena/Sam friendship. Plus the writers will put in anything that pushes their plot along, not caring if it’s rushed or forced), but to me they are definitely just platonic.

I know shippers like to see Kara as being utterly in love with L*na, she would die for her (pretty sure Kara would die for anyone), would do anything for her, needs her a lot, and I’ve seen some name her as the second most important person to Kara. But in canon that’s not very true (except for the she loves her, because she does but she’s not IN love with her. She loves her like she loves Winn and James, but nowhere near as much as she loves Alex). I mean, this might just be me but, I have trouble even seeing them as best friends sometimes. Like in s2 most of the times Kara went to talk to Lena was when she needed something, then suddenly after the hiatus they are bff’s and they love each other but I feel like we never truly saw their friendship develop (same has happened with Kara and Sam). Also, most of the friendship feels unbalanced because all we see is Kara supporting Lena, Kara is there helping her development but we don’t see much of Lena supporting Kara (we’ve had one or two that I remember) or helping her development. It’s why I have a hard time feeling invested in the friendship because it feels to me too much like Lena benefits more from it while Kara as a character doesn’t get much in return other than another friend (and not even one that is heavily involved in the important aspects of her life), and I am here for Kara primarily (and Alex ofc). Perhaps this’ll change once she finds out Kara is Supergirl.

And I love that people also fail to mention the fact that Barry and Iris, who are now married, are also foster siblings. Oh that’s ok, but if it’s Kalex, nope can’t have that. I love it when anti’s can’t even make sense with their own complaints.

hmm yeah, I mean I know they also get hate so I don’t want to get too into that. But what really gets me is the fact that groups that are shipping things that are in very similar situations will turn and point the finger at others for shipping the same thing but in a slightly different context.

To me it’s like if someone loves the color purple but finds someone else weird for liking the color violet. I mean the colors are different but not really. You know what I mean?

Hey! So, I started watching season 3 of Supergirl, and I’m a bit confused (I skipped season 2 because there was no alex/kara and too much mon-el). Who knows Kara’s secret? I can’t keep track xD I can’t really figure out if Lena and Cat knows. It’s super confusing lol. Sorry for bothering you with dumb questions.

I think there’s a youtube account that uploads all of Alex and Kara scenes separate from everything else (I think it’s an Alex fan account), if you’d like to watch their s2 scenes.

As of 3x11 the people that don’t know her secret are Lena, Sam and Ruby, and Morgan Edge. Cat knows, but Kara doesn’t know she knows lol.

If Ruby Arias became a Supergirl someday, while Kara became Superwoman, how well would the girl do as a heroine? Especially, if she was one during her late teens?

Avatar

I think she could be one of the best heroes ever. Heroic, selfless, and smart (I mean look who her mom is is and who’d become her guardian).

She will have been learning and fighting alongside Supergirl, Alex Danvers, and Martian Manhunter. There’s no way she’d be less than a great hero.

I told myself not to watch the Over The Rainbow video I knew I'd cry my face off. BUT I STILL DID IT. AND PART OF ME IS GLAD I DID BECAUSE IT'S A MASTERPIECE LIKE ALWAYS

Oh no, crying was not something I expected as reaction from the video lol. But it’s a strong emotion so I guess it’s good ;P

Hey Venus, what are your thoughts on the latest rumours? Should they have kept them together or is this the best solution?

I’m not up to speed with any SG rumors or spoilers. The latest spoilery thing I’ve seen is the comic cover for the crossover. All I know is what I gather from looking at the poster, nothing else, and I am working hard to keep it that way lol.

But I’m going to guess this is about S*nvers. Should they have kept them together? My personal opinion on that is no. From the moment Maggie was introduced I always saw her as an intermediary character in Alex’s arc. She was meant to get Alex to come out, learn to be in a relationship and then leave (I actually thought this of her, Mon-El, and M’gann. Two down one to go? fingers crossed lol. Although I really want M’gann back :[ ) and I THINK that was actually the intent they had with her which is why she wasn’t singed on for more than a season, and wasn’t fleshed out as much as the other new characters. I’m also glad they are ending it because while I loved Alex’s coming out arc in 2A her story became too much about the ship and less about her as a person (didn’t help that M*ggie was not as interesting a character, imo, so it’s hard to be invested in a relationship when you when you only care about one of them). She wasn’t Alex anymore but one part of S*nvers, her role in the season after episode 9 doesn’t affect the season at all (2x15 the exception). She was more often than not relegated to a side-plot that didn’t affect anything other than her relationship. If you were to remove her from 2B the season is hardly affected. And yes, I think breaking them up is the best solution, I don’t think anyone would have been happy with an off-screen relationship, they barely remember Jeremiah so who knows how much they’d remember that Maggie was still off somewhere in off-screenville still married/engaged to Alex. This way it allows Alex to move on and develop in more ways imo. I just hope that if/when Alex gets another LI it’s with a better fleshed out character and it actually contributes to the main arc somehow while also giving her development, and that it doesn’t monopolize her time and we still get a good Kara and Alex arc.

I hope that s3 lets Alex be her own person, lets her be an important part of Kara’s arc again (they say it’s Danvers sisters centric like s1, I hope they actually mean it. We’ll see.), as well as an important player in the central arc of the season.

That gifset, one of my fav. movies. I think someone did bring it up before, but heck Kalex Anastasia!Au is just so perfect. It fits so well. Astra looking for her long lost niece, Lillian as Rasputin ('cause I don't think Indigo works as well). Alex and Kara being friends as kids, but then Kara forgetting Alex and who she was. Ouch. Someone needs to write this ASAP.

Wow, this had never crossed my mind and I can’t believe it didn’t because it is so perfect. Alex in the role of Dimitri, yes. What about Non in the role of Rasputin or better yet Rhea since she hates kryptonians/the El family. This works down to the necklace Kara has, just like Anya did. So yes, this would be an awesome AU.

Hi Venus. Um. couls you just verify for md that aomeone actually aaid sanvers was more important that a decade anx more long familial relationship that had Alex givinv up everything willingly to protect Kara?

I won’t say names but there is a group of dedicated S*nvers and M*ggie stans that constantly post on twitter (and probably here but I can’t confirm because I stay out of the main SG tags as much as possible). This group pretty much dislike/hate Kara, they usually appear whenever there’s any post either on here or on twitter of people saying how important the Kara/Alex relationship is. They just seem to really dislike it whenever people express liking the sister relationship above Alex’s romantic one.

I find it funny to be honest. It’s almost as if they feel threatened by the sister’s relationship somehow or maybe just envy it? Idk.

That’s all I’ll say on the matter.

Hey! I just had a quick question. Do you know of any kalex roleplayers or anyone that would be willing to roleplay them? I've been searching for a partner since season one and the last time I found one we had a great time but were attacked by 'fandom' so I've always gotten nervous to post a search post for a rp writing partner

I don’t know any, sorry. but maybe posting your request in just the Kalex tag might help in finding someone that would be up to it. Or maybe on AO3? Idk honestly, sorry.

I know it’s hard being attacked by fandom, but don’t be afraid. What I would recommend is just staying out of the general supergirl tags if you are too worried about getting hate. Stick to the “kalex” or “kara x alex” tag. I personally don’t give a rats ass about what others think so I post in any tag I feel like it lol (so far I haven’t gotten any hate, thankfully), but I get that most kalex fans are wary of getting hate. So yeah, if you ever find someone to roleplay with or for anyone that wants to join the Kalex fandom but is afraid that’s my advice, stick to the “kalex” tag and nothing else.

Hey venus. I saw in the tags for one of your reblogs that you're watching Gypsy. On a narrative level, would you say it's good? Like, I know about the supposedly problematic parts but I want to watch and see for myself.

It is good imo. But I don’t know what you mean about problematic parts because the show itself is about a problematic character. All the bad things you see are never shown as “good” or romanticized (I’d find these things “problematic” if they were shown as something good in the narrative or if the Jean/Sidney ship was shown in a romanticized light but it’s not). Jean is an antihero, she is extremely flawed but so are all the other characters, every single one (except Jean’s daughter, she’s adorable). The show is about people that are grey, they are complicated. No character, relationship, or situation is 100% good or bad.
