If Aneung asked this to Neung when she was younger, back in her rebellious stage, she would have said no without hesitation. But she doesn’t, and that’s because Aneung has taught her a life changing lesson: How to be selfless.

Prior to Aneung, Neung acted in her own self interest, or selfishly if you will. Meaning she put her needs before others no matter the cost. This mindset is what lead her to leave the palace, Chet, and her family in pursuit of her own happiness. But since then, Neung regrets how her decision negatively impacted the people closest to her.

We’ve seen her in turmoil over losing Song and refusing to patch things up with the Grandma’am before she died. Hell, her actions almost led to Aneung not being born.

Earlier in the episode, when they were fighting, Aneung called out Neung for this behavior.

Neung is trying to make amends for the past, and prevent Aneung from burning familial relationships. So yes, Neung does think about Aneung’s feelings A LOT. Because she cares for Anueng so deeply, Neung’s thinking transitions from selfish to selfless.

The temptation for Neung to act selfishly is great. A part of her wants to scream no, wants to pour her heart out, wants to fight against Aneung’s wishes and tell her no, I want more. I want you. The conflict is written all over her face.

But Neung has changed. She learned what it means to put others’ needs before your own.

So Neung decides to be selfless and let Aneung go because she believes that’s what Aneung truly wants and she respects Aneung’s desires. She doesn’t want to be like everyone else in Aneung’s life that’s imposing their own wishes onto her.

The irony is that Aneung wants Neung to never stop fighting for her. Aneung wants Neung to admit she wants to be with her. Admit that she wants everything from her even when Aneung tries to quit. And it’s obvious that Neung does want more, but she’s holding back and Aneung is beyond frustrated.

Bottom line: Anueng can’t see the self sacrifice Neung makes by accepting her offer to reset. Aneung can’t see that Neung loves her so much she is willing to sacrifice her happiness for Anuneng’s happiness. And Neung can’t see that Aneung’s happiness is having her and being hers.

This entire fight is basically an incredibly well executed and sophisticated “miscommunication” scenario and I’ll never be over it.

This is exactly my analysis of Nueng.

And this carries true up to the latest episode. She doesn't want Anueng to isolate herself from her family (no matter how she feels about them in the present), she doesn't want to live life without considering the feelings and thoughts of those close to them. But then, in the heat of the moment, she makes a call, publically confesses her love, and was possibly going to ask Anueng once again to stay, and what happens? Anueng's life is now in danger. Once again, she's about to act "selfishly" and her worst fear comes to fruition.

I don't know how the writer will get Nueng through this trauma to accept happiness for herself again. But I look forward to it.

Ok, so the more I watch of The Way Home, the more certain I become that Kat and Susanna were a couple in the original draft. The sudden changes in tone are just a bit too obvious that scenes were reshot.

Is anyone else seeing this? I swear they filmed it as intended and then network notes or something happened. Am I reading into it too much?

I don't think anything was reshot. It feels like they were/are pushing as far as they can with Katanna until Hallmark was like "no no no" so they settled on Tom/Kat in the final episode (although Kat seemingly turns both down if you think about it lol. Maybe Susanna is that person she says she loves).

They reveal that Susanna painted her and left other things behind for Kat to find and show us Kat missing her. But after Elliot kisses her, she envisions Thomas & says she could've loved him? That moment felt sudden to me because Kat had never shown or voiced any type of affection for Thomas other than gratitude (& only until 3 episodes ago).

I hope we see Susanna in s3 and that they build up their relationship more. Push Hallmarks limits more lol.
